How do you prevent someone from breaking in to your room?

I am in a hotel room with a key card lock and there have been some theft. What can I do to prevent someone from breaking in?

    If they are "breaking" in then there is no way to prevent it apart from always being in the room and never leaving it. Most hotel thefts are by opportunist thieves. Doors are not locked properly and they try them as they walk past. If it opens then after checking for occupants, in they go.

    Best thing to do is be 100% sure that you have absolutely nothing of value in the room when you are not there.

    When you are in the room: there are locking straps that you can get at most travel stores that keep the bolt of the lock in place.

    When you are not in the room" There is this cool little gadget called a "Pull Lock" that you pull under the door into position from the outside with a little tool that has a combo that makes the spikes to grab the carpet retract and deploy. It's about two hundred bucks though.
