Is anyone else having problems with Firefox today?

When I try to use Mozilla Firefox I get an error message 'Firefox has stopped working. Windows is trying to find a solution to the problem.' This has been going on all morning. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, but this hasn't helped. I am now using Google Chrome, and have tried Safari, and they are working fine. I did have a look at the Firefox help page, but no joy. It had been playing up for a few days, hanging regularly, so I don't know if this a widespread problem or not.

Update:

Who rattled your cage, Mr Awesomeface? Or is it A*******face?

Update 2:

Just tried it again, still not working.

Update 3:

I have tried your suggestions, but still no joy. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, so the Windows 7 solution didn't help - thanks anyway. I have scanned the computer, but the only things that showed up were some tracking cookies, which I deleted. I have tried running Firefox in safe mode, (no good) and also accessing the program files and running it through that, which didn't work either. I prefer to use Firefox for surfing the web because it has McaFee safesearch installed, which makes it easier to spot potentially dangerous sites. I can't even uninstall it as I am locked out of the program.

firefox has issues sometimes but i have not heard of that one in particular. usually restarting the program works for me, and when it does not... i simply shut off my computer for a few minutes and come back to it later.
