Does Earth Hour make any sense at all?

The Green Living Site advertised the idea of an Earth Hour Dinner Party on

http://www.greenlivingonline.com/blog/lindsay/eart...

This suggested that we "Create a meal that reflects the occasion, using recipes that you can enjoy by candlelight and where no cooking is required during lights out."

In other words, to save the world from CO2, burn candle wax instead of that electricity stuff, and ignore the smoke that is generated.

"The idea is to cook a recipe that you can enjoy by candlelight, where there is no cooking involved during the earth hour (any prep can be done in advance)."

Ok, This means it's OK to burn coal to make power for your oven to cook your meal before Earth Hour as long as you turn them off for the hour itself?

How is this of any benefit at all?

    No. It's a propaganda exercise.

And "enjoying a dinner by candlelight?" HA... and that will produce more pollution than using the electricity, but they're too moronic to see that.

Yes,because we save energy. And for your example,it is not that all of people are burning coal or enjoying to cook in the candlelight before earth hour starts.

Well if you turn off lights, have a campfire dinner, and reduce the use of our everyday supplies we could save lots of money. Also plant a tree recycle everything you use.

According to me, this is really, a nice way of conserving electricity.

    Energy saved,is Energy produced.

Why do we always get caught in the jargan of world summits, while talking about the environment?

We must remember:Environment begins with I

how is this benefit at all?well, turning of everything for just one hour can save electricity and can also save the earth

earth hour is supposed to educate us about global warming and climate change and their harmful effects to everyone. If we are all educated about these things, we could stop global warming and climate change and we can all save lives...
