Is baby eating a good assortment of solid foods? Can he use a cup?

If so, when you are ready to begin the weaning process (which can be now, or in a couple of years, or anything in between -- you do know that you don't HAVE to wean at one year, right?) you gradually cut out nursing sessions, and gradually increase solid foods and liquids from a cup. As demand decreases, your supply will decrease.

If baby is resistant or gets clingy or upset, you will need to decide if weaning is important enough to YOU to push on with it, or if you are willing to continue until baby is more amenable. If you feel you must continue, then letting baby spend more time with daddy or other caregivers, changing his bedtime routine (ideally let daddy take over for a while), and anticipating times when he commonly wants to nurse and pre-emptively offering a snack or game, should, with a little luck, help things go more smoothly.

Breastfeed your husband first, then the little one.
