Can the HIV virus be transmitted by a mosquito bite?

My husband and I have been working in the yard lately, and the mosquitos are a PEST!! I'm totally ichty and it's like the only thing I can think about. I was totally at work today rubbing hand sanitizer all over my arms for relief. Anyways!!! So out of curiousity, I was wonder if mosquitos suck your blood, and someone with hiv is bitten and that same mosquito bite a non infected person, could they get the virus? Not sure I want to know the answer, but quite interested in knowing.

No, mosquitoes do not transmit HIV. When mosquitoes feed on blood from a person they only inject their saliva, which serves as a lubricant and allows the insect to draw blood more easily. In addition, HIV does not reproduce or survive inside mosquitoes, unlike organisms that are transmitted via insect bites.

whilst mosquitoes chunk a individual, they don't inject the blood of a prior sufferer into the guy they chunk next. Mosquitoes do, notwithstanding, inject saliva into their sufferers, which will carry illnesses consisting of dengue fever, malaria, yellow fever or the West Nile virus, as a effect infecting the guy being bitten. notwithstanding, HIV isn't transmitted this style (Webb et al., 1989). on the different hand, a mosquito might have HIV-contaminated blood in its intestine, and if swatted on the exterior of a human who then scratches it, transmission might in theory ensue (Siemens, 1987). This threat is extremely small, and no circumstances have yet been pointed out by using this course.

    In short, No.

HIV dies upon contact with air and is not transmitted through mosquitoes. Other viruses, however, can be, such as West Nile, among others.
