If your current saddle fits really well take the measurements of that. Also measure your horse to have the exact details.
I like to go to the local tack store and sit in some and see how they feel. Once you have a good idea of what you feel comfortable in and what will match your measurements then you can start to look for second hand saddle from eBay and other places.
I've bought 3 second hand saddles, one from an auction - it was a great saddle, one from a saddlery - it is my favourite and one from eBay - it is certainly good for the purpose I use it, which is visitors and rainy days as it is synthetic.
Same with the bridle, pick the brains of the local saddlery. Look at them if they have any in stock and ask them questions about what they recommend. They are aware of what is on the market and will help you narrow it down.
It then allows you to know that the store prices are so you really do get a bargain on-line. When people have not done their research they can sometimes pay more for an item when postage is included.
Good luck ;-)

Synthetic saddles have the capabilities of being low cost, convenient to handle, and light-weight. That being mentioned, I do not like them, nor will I ever possess one. Call me a traditionalist, however I so much decide on a nice leather-based saddle over an artificial saddle. If you purchase one, be certain it is decently made. Many are made poorly and absence the concentration to element that lead them to risk-free and comfy for each horse and rider. The components can also be uncomfortably sizzling to sit down in, are by and large slippery, and will intent warmth sores at the horse's again when you additionally use an artificial saddle pad that does not breathe. Some use low cost hardware that may holiday below pressure. Also be conscious that any heavy-responsibility endeavor like roping should not be performed with an artificial saddle-- it is simply now not robust adequate. An funding in an artificial saddle could also be now not a protracted-time period deal-- when you journey generally, you can need to substitute it in a couple of years. If you propose to journey a couple of occasions every week or do principally path driving, you'll quite often get by means of with an artificial saddle like the only you associated with furnished it suits your horse. If you wish to do any form of displaying, more difficult driving, or have a work of tack in order to final an entire life and be ready to be handed down for your youngsters, a nice leather-based saddle is good valued at the cost. If you'll most effective manage to pay for a couple of hundred bucks for a saddle, you are quite often higher off with an artificial saddle than a low cost leather-based saddle. A well leather-based western saddle from a professional maker holds its importance good, or even an historical one will more often than not rate among $four hundred - $one thousand. A most sensible-nice 'off the rack' saddle or a customized saddle will by and large run $3000 and up, however it is a lifetime funding.

You can buy saddles off of eBay exactly like it. I would not buy a saddle with out fitting it on my horse first. Every horse is different and if the saddle that you have just bought a new to you saddle and it doesn't fit. Measure the gullet size and that will help. Ty to find a saddle with the same gullet size to make he saddle fit correctly. You can buy a rounded skirt saddle or a square skirt saddle depending on which one you like. Also the horn size will depend on what you are doing. Since you will just be trail ridig a regular horn will be fine but if you were to do calf roping you would need a thick saddle horn. Make sure to measure the saddle size also. All the way across the dart sonyou will find one that measures to you also.
