I need CRITICISM. Help?

I have been applying to photography schools but I am worried I won't be let into them as a sophomore (which I technically will be even though I haven't taken any photo classes really) or let in at all, really.

I applied to Parsons: The New School, London College of Communication, and Otis. If you know of those schools and know what level they look for, please tell me what you think.

Here is my portfolio if you want to judge it overall:

Or here are some specific examples if you can tell me what you think about those.

THANK YOU!

Anything you can say helps. A thumbs up or down is good enough.

looks like pretty typical high school photography...not awful, not spectacular...just normal for someone who knows their way around a camera. i don't get a clear statement from the work. it's just a student dabbling with equipement and models. you evidentally know something about light and exposure, but seems like you're overly fond of faces with make-up, too, which might not be as interesting as you find it

If you don't get accepted into ALL of those schools, I don't know what to say.

When looking at your photos, I see room for improvement, but you really have a unique style. I feel like you just picked up a camera one day and started shooting anything that looked good to you, instead of worrying too much about traditional techniques or emulating other photographers and current trends.

You obviously understand light and composition, the importance of makeup and styling (and attractive models), and do not seem to overuse Photoshop. You also aren't afraid to take risks, because I see lots of variety in your photos in regard to the things I listed above. Lots of photographers will shoot down their own ideas before they even get to shoot them, and I get the impression that you shoot whatever pops into your head.

    Keep up the good work.

EDIT: I've looked through your photostream some more, and you have a lot of average stuff in there, but I like the shots in your portfolio set.

I went to LCP (before it became LCC) but not on the film and photography course, they will expect a degree of technical proficiency (which you demonstrate) and a reason for taking/cropping/retouching your pictures, an amount of the concept behind them.

From your gallery I enjoyed the Bicyclist, possibly because it is “of the moment” (more reportage) rather than posed.

I cannot imagine what type of a super human genius space age da vinci could possibly criticize your work. That is impossible.

I have only this advice: keep that one with the hands coming out of the grass far far away from me because if I want to eat it very badly.

*edit* Sooooo... what are the chances you will give me it in a higher res? (not to eat, I promise, I just want to put it as my wallpaper please?)

the first guy that commented saying those are typical high school level is on crack or a dumbass they are worthy to be on a well known magazien. wow people can sometimes be retarded so dont listen to the dumb fukks and just take more pictures like that and any colleage will accept you!

your photos are a bit limited in subject matter...

i would have thought most "schools" would want to see a range of photography styles and abilities...

wide angle, macro, landscapes, portraits, fine-art, etc... what comes out of the camera, AND post processed, AND over processed...
