Can I keep my yahoo contacts separate from my yahoo mail?
For the second time, a spammer has somehow gained access to my yahoo mail and sent everyone, including myself, a link for mail enhancement. This is most certainly not me. Since I don't know how they gained access to my mail, I would like to know if I delete all my contacts from yahoo mail, will it affect yahoo messenger and other services? Or is there a way so I can automatically email everyone in my contacts? I rarely use yahoo mail to send out emails, so it's not a big deal if I don't have my contacts on there. I already exported my contacts to another account I have and they are not linked to each other.

Yahoo strongly suggests that you change your password immediately and do a full virus/malware scan. It would be wise if you could let your contacts know that you didn't send them the email and to not click the link in it, because it is a virus. I speak from experience. If you delete your contacts it will affect your messenger.

I would never allow a stranger to contact by Messenger or Mail. That would just be stupid. You should read all the questions here from people being harassed and threatened by other Answers participants. They are getting pornographic pictures and messages, threats to kill them and their family, and more. Why anyone would subject themselves to that is beyond me.
