How far away Is the Metropolitan Museum Art away from the Port Authority and Penn Station?

The Met and the Port Authority are more than 9 blocks apart - that's the difference between Penn Station and the Port Authority (PABT). The PABT is on 42nd St. The best way to get where you're going is to take the subway once you've arrived in Manhattan. The Met is near the 4/5/6 trains (you can go to 77th St if you take the 6, or 86th St if you take the 4/5).

To get from the PABT to the Met, take either the Times Square shuttle (S train) or the 7 train to Grand Central. From there you can take the 4/5/6 trains (make sure you're going uptown!). The subway will cost $2.25 each way, but you can transfer for free as long as you don't leave the turnstyles. If you arrive at Penn Station, you can take the 1/2/3 or A/C/E trains one stop uptown to Times Square, and then follow the same instructions as above.

If you feel overwhelmed, don't be afraid to ask someone for help. Not all NYers are scary, some of us are nice.

It's 7 blocks up Eighth Avenue from Penn Station to Port Authority. I've walked it before with luggage for the weekend. Any A, C, or E subway train will get you from one to the other. From Penn Station to Port Authority, the direction of the subway you want is Uptown. The reverse is Downtown.

The MEt and Port Authority aren't so far apart, about 9 blocks or so, a quick cap ride.

Penn station is a touch farther, but the subway will get you right to either the Met or Port.
