    Side B...

Ichiro = Hits, Average, and Steals

Verlander = Wins, ERA, and Strikeouts, and WHIP (though he is struggling currently)

    Prince Fielder = Homeruns, RBIs

Nick Markakis = good player but not great at anything.

    Points:

    1) You can find sources for HRs and RBIs to cover losing Fielder through waiver wire.

    2) First Base is a loaded position, there are a lot of guys out there that are productive at 1B.

    3) You cannot find a guy like Ichiro that can hit (200+ hits in a season) for average (.320+) like he can, and plus add 30 stolen bases.

    4) Verlander's stock has dropped since the end of last year, but his potential for 200+ strikeouts and 15+ wins make him a solid front line pitcher to have on a roster, besides you cannot find many pitchers that can strikeout 200+ batters in a season.

    5) Markakis is just average, or at best above average in all aspects. 20 HRs and 20 SBs and .280-.290 average. The SBs probably will fall to 10-15 this year and the Orioles are that good, so he may not see many good pitches to hit.

So, B got the best deal.

Depends on what you need. I'd love to have Ichiro and Verlander. Verlander will settle in, he started off terrible last year too and ended up with and ERA under 3.5.

side B because they got a quality on base and run scorer and a great strikeout pitcher
