I just finished up my Navy bootcamp a month ago so ican help you on this one. Getting attitude with the Recruit Division Commanders ussually result in getting IT'd. Its just doing pushups or 8-counts(my personal favorite) or jumping jacks until you can barely move. Don't worry he will live and he will get maybe 3 more phone calls to you. Before you know it he will be fine, and you get to stand proud at his Graduation Ceremony. If people start faining both in and out of the Divisions, do not worry, that is normal haha

Your son got ITE (intensive training exercises). The other posters had it right, it really is exercise to complete exhaustion and can last for hours. You don't get very far in boot camp with an attitude, so tell him to lose it fast.

I would guess he was made to do some serious exercise, they do NOT hurt them as in smack him about but hopefully the ONLY person that was punished was your son and not everyone else along with him.
Trust he will keep his attitude in check or this will be a short lived career path for him.
**told my son as he left for basic, they do not want to hear, know and care even less about your opinions, keep them to your self **

They probably gave him a complete beasting. Exercise to exhaustion. He probably learned a valuable lesson.
