Is this the end of the Melbourne Storm?

Before you go calling me a prick, just think about it...

-They don't have a big fan base, and of what is there, not that many of them will be wanting to go to games that Melbourne Storm will automatically lose, no matter the result.

- It leads to Melbourne getting less funds, plus the $1.1 mill they had to pay back and the $500,000 fine.

- I'm not sure if players are going to want to play for a club after what has happened over the past couple years.

And I know the Bulldogs recovered, but they are a Sydney based team, Melbourne a from an AFL state. They don't have as many fans to start off with.

Update:

Jeno, they didn't win the comp, they cheated. And there were only big crowds at their home games because they were playing so well. The crowds are gonna be tiny now.

Depends how they deal with it. If the give up and waste this season, it could be. They need to keep performing every week, keep winning even though it means nothing to them. If they can do that, they will be stronger then ever.

No, this is not the end of the Melbourne Storm. It is the end of a lot of executives involved with the Storm during the time frame of the cheating. The NRL is not going to walk away from Melbourne, especially with the new stadium about to open. They will try to make the best of a very bad situation.

One thing is for sure, there will be a lot of new faces both on and off the field come next season. It will be interesting to see what happens to the players who took money 'under the table', because they had to know what their contract called for and what they were getting paid.

This wont be the end of the team. If anything, it'll make the players play better as a unit. It will however be the end of some club members off the field if you ask me. I just hope the warriors can weather the storm this week cos I reckon they'll come out guns blazing for sure.

They shouldn't be allowed to recover they should be banned. They have ruined the past 4 seasons of the NRL, i'm livid - I can only imagine how angry Eels and Manly fans must be.

Criminal charges should be layed on the CEO and whomever else was responsible for this.

@jsnista - no way will this unite their team, I wouldn't be surprised if half the players refuse to play.

The warriors are a non Australian team and survive within the salary cap. They abide by the rules and are not an old club.

They also have succeed within the rules to compete within a grand final.

For that reason , the decision brought towards melbourne storm is justified as they have broken the rules.

I still think the storm players take steroids.

And yes I think it will be the end of Melbourne Storm, I'm celebrating because if they win a game, they actually loose!!!

I didn't realise people hated melbourne soo much?? maybe it's a bandwagon..like everything else, im expecting souths to get done soon..oh well it's only a game.

Im mind boggled by some answers, like really it's not that important is it?

Have you seen how many people go to a home game? They pull a good crowd.

Im sure they will pull through. And after winning the comp so many times im sure they will still have players wanting to play for them.

well they will lose some fans and stuff but players would still play for them. they are going to have to get rid of a few stars i think to stay under the salary cap and i don't think they will be as successful again
