Melbourne fans blaming Sydney ...?
I want to hear from Storm fans.. and who they blame for their Club's demise... I heard Molly Meldrum this morning blaming Sydney, and also another Storm fan outside the clubs headquarters blaming NSW... Views?
@Silkin... Apparently it's not just Waldron being blamed... how dare the NRL and Sydney penalise the Storm this harshly. I think people have very short memories and forget that the Bulldogs were stripped of 37 points and lo and behold.. omg they are from Sydney :)
That above comment was commenting on what other Victorians have said, not what Silkin said.. and yes Waldron and a few others are completely to blame.
@Ashleigh... NRL had to impose those penalties on the Storm, not because it's a non Sydney team but because they set those penalties when they punished Canterbury.. If it happened to another team I would still be shocked and disgusted.. and happy @ their demise (ie: Canterbury) :)

I heard the same thing. No idea why Sydney is being blamed. Waldron appears to be the main cause and he came from St Kilda AFL club. That being the case it is a home grown problem. If it is a case where the Sydney supporters are crowing about it, well the Storm did win two premierships using unfair and illegal means.

It's an interesting point. The Storm administration would have been under alot of pressure to ensure that the Storm was a successful franchise simply in order to promote Rugby League in the AFL heartland. With the Storm being a News Limited product and a child of the Super League war, many people from Sydney thought they had no business being in the competition.
Beyond that, I reckon this punishment was way out of proportion when you consider the punishment other clubs have received in the past or the fact that several other clubs have managed to get away with salary cap rorts without punishment. Ultimately I think the NRL has killed the Storm franchise and any ability to get a foothold in the AFL heartland.

I think its funny that all you pplz think that NRL is nothin dowm here, do u know how many fans we have if ur saying that then i could say that havin a sydney team in the afl and there is soon 2 be 2 teams thats a fukin joke as well
as for what storm have done i agree that it ts bad, but i also agree thats its blatantly obvious that the nrl and all the other fans beside melbourne storm fans and all the other teams have had it in for melbourne storm, i mean remember about a year ago when all the club were sookin on storm saying thet they were doing illegal tackles alll other coaches were havin a right royal whinge and they were doing the same if not worse, but hey these days theyll say we were more whinging coz we had suspicisions of the salary caps, every1s always sooked and now i can see every other coach sitting back and rubbing there hands 2 gether coz 1 of ur **** teams are actually gonna have a chance this year!!!!!!!
and also whats 2 say that the players knew about the breachs, i mean 1 player knows what hes gettin payed but they dont know what every1 else is gettin payed, i understand that the peoples in storm that actually knew it they should be punished but if the players didnt know how can u punish them??????

Because Sydney has an M.Ali mania going on ( We are the greatest and don't say Sydney dosen't believe that) the bad sports in Sydney, couldn't take being beaten by Melbourne at their own game so they had to find some way to nobble them.
Look at the fine the NRL gave the coach in 2008 after he had the audacity to call the judiciary corrupt for suspending Cameron Smith for a head high tackle the week after a Dragons player got cleared of the same thing a week before.
And if Brian Waldron is correct in saying every one does it (exceeding the salary cap) Mr Gallop can shut the Melbourne people up by being a man of honour and look at the books of the other clubs to see if Waldron is right.
Sydney in the end would be better off getting of their self important high horse and admiting they aren't Australia's b all and end all.

I am a melburian an avid afl fan and have been getting more and more into the rugby over the last 10 years. Obviously I support Melbourne and am disgusted what has happened. I blame the suits but the only blame I have in Sydney is the fact that the NRL board are in Sydney and a pack of toothless tigers.Gallop is a wuss and has gone over the top.Rugby administration is a joke. I mean they got away this mess for 5 years. If it wasn't for some whistleblower who had a grievance with waldren this could have kept going. Sydney rugby experts also say the admin is questionable. But I do think sydneysiders are thoroughly enjoying the demise of melbourne

Everyone who commentates is going to have biased of some kind or another (it's the human factor). While I can understand why you don't like Gus Gould, it escapes me that you think Ray Warren is not fit to commentate RL. But I guess you're allowed you're own opinion. Wally Lewis will talk up Queensland and Broncos and Andrew Johns' heart will always be with Newcastle. If you want to hear some real bias, try listening to the guys from New Zealand when the Warriors are playing in Auckland.

As far as I know Waldron is being BLAMED and So he should be
It is a sad day in Rugby league that this fiasco is hitting the supporters & players so hard when the individuals responsible should be shot.
Slugger that's a load of Bull
There are plenty of Melbourne supporters who are Victorian Born I know may of them and I'm one of them myself.
The Aussie rules supporters who cant stand to have a little competition are full of shi t and always have been...
U should hear the them go on about Soccer or anything that threatens their world.
IF Rugby is to grow & not fizzle out under the aggressive onslaught of the AFL code then they need to h ave a national competition or in the coming decades Rugby League in Australia will become a local park competition .....
WAKE UP NORTHERN STATES IF STORM FOLD & OTHER STATES DON'T COME ON BOARD IN THE FUTURE ITS THE ENDING OF THE GAME WITHIN 50 YEARS......

Yes it is NSW fault for letting them enter the comp in the first place, a Melbourne team for rugby league was a stupid idea, no one watches it down there, no one is interested in it, and if they think they can build it down there then they are kidding themselves. 10 years at the top and still no one knows what rugby league is down there, it's about time they put the team where it's wanted, on the central coast. Melbourne has done nothing to build the game, if anything they have just brought it's popularity and culture down, I'm sure most Victorians agree with me when I say that down there they really don't care what happens with the NRL

Every Melbournian I've ever encountered who's voiced an opinion on this Melbourne based team has assured me that the only people in that city of 4 million who are even remotely interested in it or the NRL are people who moved there from up north (or their offspring).
They're blaming Sydney because that's what they see the entire team and competition as; Sydney.
EDIT: @silkin storm; If Rugby is to grow in Australia then can teams of it's horrible Frankensteins monster Rugby League like the Melbourne Storm who put people off the game!
What makes you think it Aussie Rules folk who told me this? It was also soccer fans and sports fans in general. I have no reason to doubt them and plenty to doubt you. How many people actually play the sport in Melbourne? probably even less than in NZ!

Anyone who is a second child knows what this is about .. Sydney is the first-born, and Melbourne sits there and says "It wasn't me!!"
Why they'd blame NSW for their cheating has an ugly undertone, it's almost like they're having delusions of paranoia about everyone being out to get them. They should look in their own cupboards (?), the proof is in their home.
