What are the rules for checking in knives on planes?
Im gonna be traveling pretty soon and I really want to bring along my 23 inch machete. I know i can't bring it with me on the plane but, is it okay to check a bag with something as big as a machete inside it? Is there a certain limit as to how big is can be? Ive brought knives before just none this big.

The TSA site says you can take sabers, so I would suppose a machete would be ok...in checked luggage. See site below and read under sharp objects.

yeah, I've had 7 machetes in my checked bag before! And on an international flight. You can also go to http://www.tsa.gov/ for the list of rules.
