Can I get unemployment in CA if my leave my job because my boss is extorting me?
I bought a car from a customer of our shop since it had a blown head gasket and the customer didnt want to hassle with it. I paid to have the headgasket fixed..... then drove the car and decided I didnt like it (subaru wagon). Now my boss came in threatening me today saying "youre giving me the money made off the car TOMORROW MORNING OR ELSE" I asked him if he meant I would be fired, or he was threatening physical harm, he replied "You just better have the %$#@ing money tomorrow morning or else!!!!" How can I show up when im expecting that?? I fear for my safety, the guy is an older biker and heads a motorcycle club. I dont have his money, some of it was put toward my moms mortgage in OR, and the rest I need for a car! He can take me to small claims or something so why come in pointing your finger in someones face or threatening harm....
He said all this in front of a bunch of people and I filed a police report, so do you think this would be cause for for me to quit due to harassment/threats? Ive never been on unemployment before ive heard its hard to get if you quit for any reason....

If you bought the car, why does he want money? Now, you can't be doing other business other than your job there.
But, it will be a good idea if you video tape the way he threatens you, and asking for money that doesn't belong to him.
If you leave your job because of this issues your are mentioning, don't worry it is ok and you will be protected because you left your job for the reason of intimidation and threatning. You will be getting more money than applying for unemployment.
Don't go tomorrow to work!

since you work for him and the car came into his shop , he might have the legal right to the car if the owner wanted to sell it.. maybe he feels you went behind his back..
NO, you should never go into a job where you feel threatened.
tell him don't have the money but will work off the amount in the shop for free..maybe that will work for him.. in most cases it would be better for him to keep you alive then kill you.. then he for sure would not get any money..
