Is it difficult to replace the front brakes on a 1996 VW Cabrio?
A good friend of mine is convinced he can replace the pads on my wife's 1996 Cabrio, even the rotors if necessary. I looked in the Chilton manual and disagree. There is still plenty of pressure in the pedal, nothing leaking. Procedurally it looks like a lot of typical German parts. Any opinions?

its not hard just like american cars but do not let him split the caliper in half there are two pins you have to tap out not the bolts on the back they will split the caliper the pins TAP OUT you will see them on the front of it little heads need a center punch to push them out not hard like any brakes

Nothing to it with the right tools."There is still plenty of pressure in the pedal, nothing leaking." Has nothing to do with it if the pads need replacing.
