Is there a download for the old Apple IIe BASIC programming language?
I found a BASIC download (JustBasic) that I have used but the program is unstable, and doesn't use a lot of the commands I used to use with Apple BASIC. I've looked for the Apple BASIC program but I can't seem to find one that mirrors the old-fashioned language I used in high school (1982). Any ideas, besides trying to find an old IIe machine?
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoIs it difficult to replace the front brakes on a 1996 VW Cabrio?
A good friend of mine is convinced he can replace the pads on my wife's 1996 Cabrio, even the rotors if necessary. I looked in the Chilton manual and disagree. There is still plenty of pressure in the pedal, nothing leaking. Procedurally it looks like a lot of typical German parts. Any opinions?
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoRemoving an interior panel on a 2006 Pontiac Montana?
The outside handle on the sliding door of my 2006 Montana has ripped off--but is still hanging on--because people are too stupid to simply lift the handle and wait for the door to move. They tug so hard it came right off. Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to remove the interior panel of the sliding door? The handle goes back on with two machine bolts and will be the easy part of the whole process.
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoIs a catalytic converter necessary on a 1995 truck in NC?
In NC vehicles made before 1996 are not required to pass an emissions test (no OBD). My catalytic is making a terrible clanging noise and my guess is that it is shot. It's a beater truck that I drive rarely. Would YOU invest several hundred dollars in replacing it?
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoCherry tree disease--woodturners, please look?
Recently my neighbor cut down three wild cherry trees (very small fruit, large stone). On two of the trees were large round "infections" which I presume to be cankers. Someone told me these are valuable to bowl turners, and I'd like to donate them if they're of any value. I am a furniture woodworker by trade, but I rarely turn, so I'm not certain of the significance of these cankers, nor what they look like inside. Can anyone enlighten me with regard to these growths?
1 AnswerBotany1 decade agoNeed help choosing a wireless router for BellSouth application?
I have a Dell E521 desktop, Windows Vista Home. I need to install a wireless router that is fully and easily (stress easily) compatible with my BellSouth DSL service. I use a Motorola router connected to the telephone line (this isn't dial-up, let me clarify that) which appears to be a type number 2210-02-1006. In the past, regardless of what type of ISP I had (be it cable, DSL, whatever) the wireless router would refuse to recognize the first router. I don't mind spending the money if I can get a router that is VERY user-friendly to install. I have not had the best luck with Belkin. I sincerely appreciate any help you can provide for me.
1 AnswerComputer Networking1 decade agoMy wife is a great singer--I want to hook up the computer to Youtube her performance--but--the best way is...?
I have two laptops and a desktop. All basic inputs on them. I want to help her create a QUALITY peformance using a video input device and an audio input device. The background track will be a karaoke version of the song she wants to sing (although I don't know if it should be played aloud while she sings, or mixed through a board which I do own and then routed into the computer, or some other method). We have a little money to burn but not tons. Can anyone provide me with some advice? FYI, I am computer literate and used to DJ in college at the radio station so I'm also familiar with audio technical terms. I'm not quite as literate with video. Thank you so much in advance!
2 AnswersYouTube1 decade agoChrysler Town and Country--here's a puzzler!?
I have a 2000 T&C. For some reason, when it gets wet, the engine throws the serpentine belt (it's new and shows no sign of wear). I've replaced the idler though not the tensioner. The odd thing is, it only throws the belt when it gets wet. Can someone suggest possible problems that would cause the belt to throw? Thank you in advance for your help.
5 AnswersChrysler1 decade agoMy gas furnace won't ignite?
I have a Honeywell gas furnace. Electrically, everything works fine. However, for some reason gas will not flow. It has a version of a Honeywell SmartValve (the schmatic says it is a SV9500 but it's older, and the newer version online doesn't look like mine--similar, but not exact). Is it possible that the valve is defective? Like I said, this is an older model. I've already replaced the blower motor successfully, though if it is the valve/ignitor assembly, I'm hesitant to mess with gas. I've checked the gas hot water heater and it has a lit pilot, so the gas is working. I'd love to replace the entire unit but the bucks aren't there.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoDaughter has excruciatingly thick long hair--in tangles???!!!?
My six-year-old daughter has the thickest hair, and it's all the way down to her waist. It is virtually impossible to straighten out. We braid it to avoid these problems, but she is an avid swimmer and sometimes her hair ties fall out...which means hours brushing it. Can ANYONE recommend a shampoo/conditioner combination that WORKS, regardless of what it costs? I hate to see her in tears trying to keep her hair beautiful (by "her" I mean my daughter AND my wife!).
21 AnswersHair1 decade agoProfessional refinishers only--DeVilbiss spray gun question?
I just bought a DeVilbiss JGA-510-E spray gun. I had been using one that I bought at Lowes that proved erratic. Right out of the box, I had problems with the 510--a fluttering spray. I tried every remedy on the troubleshooting page of the manual and nothing worked. Before I return it, can anyone think of why a BRAND NEW gun would have performance problems? Even when I shot clear lacquer thinner through it, it fluttered. Regardless of fluid flow, air pressure, or product, it flutters.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoAdobe Illustrator CS3--overlapping circles?
Suppose you have two black circles. You overlap them. How can you make the intersection white? I don't want to use usual Photoshop techniques like masking, eraser tool, overlays--I'm wondering if there is a clean way to isolate the area and make it white. Thank you in advance for your help.
1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoTaxation without representation?
If I travel to other states, and buy something locally, I am asked to pay a state sales tax. However, if I buy something from a firm (that does not normally do business IN my state) over the internet, I don't have to pay sales tax. If the basic tenet of taxation is that you are given government representation in exchange for those monies...but I am ineligible for benefits in other states because I am not a citizen there...should I still be made to pay their sales tax?
