Wife says hot water won't get protein stains out?
My wife insists that only cold water will remove protein stains. Warm and hot water sets them. Is this true? What is the best way to remove protein stains, particularly food stains from kids' clothes?

Cold water is the way to go especially if you can get to it before it dries.

Warm or hot water does "set" stains. Use cold water to scrub the stains then wash in cold. Put "Dawn" dish soap on the stain and leave it roll the object and put it in wash. You can use hand soap like "Dove" to scrub over the stain and do the same thing. It's the grease or lard it the soap that does it. And, yes, you can put lard on it.

Your wife is 100%+ correct. Wash the spot with Irish Spring (green bar soap) and of course use cold/cold water. You need to start trusting your wife, shame on you.

Yep she's right! And if you don't catch it and it goes in the dryer, forget it the heat sets it. Pour liquid laundry detergent directly on stain and let sit for a few minutes and wash. This generally works.Wash in cold water.

some stain removers place self belief in warm water to swap on the powder to verify that it to paintings on the stain. case in point, something with Oxy in it, like Oxymax, Oxigell, and so on. warm water reacts with it and then it fizzes into action to launch the stains from the cloth.
