Does this surprise anybody?

That Parramatta are still $8.20 to win the premiership? They have been playing like a bottom 4 side.

Not really. For the first quarter of the season (jeez, quarter of the way through the regular season already), they have been like a dormant volcano.

But they can wake up at any time. And we know what they're capable of when they do spring to life.

Also, recall they started the season poorly last year too but made it to the grand final on the back of a stunning end to the season.

It's still early days yet, and the fact they made the grand final last year suggests they know how to win the matches that matter, bar the decider. And there's also the phrase 'You've got to lose one to win one'.

Also now that the Storm are out of the equation, the rest of the field is suddenly very even. I reckon the Dragons are most likely to win the premiership now, but there are probably 5 or 6 other teams with a very good chance to take out the title in 2010 if everything goes well for them from here on in, including Parra.

Just hoping that Parramatta doesn't think "we did it last year, we can do it again'. With all due respect, that sort of luck doesn't come around all that often. They can win, they just have to keep it going, and play as a team. Then I think their odds will shorten even further .. they've got the talent, but the "team" thing is eluding them at the moment.

They're a pretty parochial dedicated lot.

I have a couple of acquaintances that have followed them since when they had that bloke with the spear on their jersey.

They're flat broke but every spare dime is put on a parra win each week.

yes....but now it's only a 15 team competition. All they have to do is make the top 8, & anything can happen from there.
