My dog is scared of everything! help!?

A month ago i got a labrador he is 7-8 month old. we got him from a house who couldn't look after him so we took him instead... but when i take him for a walk he gets scared of people walking past and people walking their dogs... just the other day a small puppy came running up to him and wanted to greet him and he went crazy! he was crying and running. the owners before didn't socialize him with people and other pets when he was a puppy. how can i get him used to people and dogs?

Slowly introduce your dog to people first and when he's comfortable being around humans, start getting him used to dogs and other animals. You may want to start with small dogs and work up to full grown dogs. Remember to take things slow, You don't want him to become overwhelmed. This will only prolong the process. You have to be patient with him too. He's scared and he needs to know you'll protect him. If you rush him into this, he may never get over being scared and it will just be more frustrating for you in the end. He may still be hesitant at time though so try to be understanding..

find a dog that is nice and you no the owners. gradually get him used to the dog and give him treats do this with a few dogs and many people and it should become more friendly.

Gradual and consistent exposure to other dogs and people.
