4l60e chevy transmission interchanges?
hello, I have a 1998 gmc full size van with the 4l60e transmission( three piece case) the tranny is bad . I found a 4l60e tranny from a 1997 tahoe that is good but it is the early 1997 version (two piece case) will the 1997 tranny work in the 1998 van

if you have the 5.7 engine that will be two piece case as in the trans case itself and the extension housing if you have the 3 piece then it will be the bell housing the trans case and the ext/housing will not work must find one out of the 5.7 torque converter will be different along with stall speed and it will not bolt to the block the 3 piece case is for the 4.3/4.8/5.0/5.3 engines

This question is one that you should call on to your local auto salvage and ask them if it is interchangeable. It might have the same bolt pattern to the block, but the computer program would/or would not be different. Salvage yards have there books and computer to tell them what is the same for any car and any year on any part.
Call them to see and I will take a guess that it won't be equivelant.
