How can I learn to speak the French nasal sounds if I cannot hear or lipread it?
I am deaf and speak English very well since toddler age. I am learning French a little since my partner is Quebecois. The nasal sounds are not visible on the lips nor audible for me to hear via hearing aids. So then how can I learn to speak it if I don't understand how it is pronounced. Most of the English sounds are easy for a deaf person to learn because we can either feel, see or hear it (with aids). I had no problem mastering Spanish because their sounds are very easy to reproduce and written words are phonetic. Any tips or good explanations on how to say those French nasal sounds? Thanks!
She already knows sign, but we communicate in English just fine. I WANT to learn to speak French because I love learning languages and would like to be able to converse with Quebecois in their language. The other sounds are not hard for me to pronounce. It's the nasal "n" and "r" that I have difficultly with.

I think it might be easier to have your partner learn sign language as well. But if you want to continue with french the best way is to write it as you would pronounce something in english. Preferably have your partner help you put something together or finding some resources online as well. For example. Pourqoui means why. Knowing english, you would can use words from it to pronounce this word like Poor-Ca-Wa. (Pronounce the Ca and Wa quickly as they mesh together.) Pourquoi is just an example, but the possibilities are endless. Good luck. Check my source for a useful link.
P.S: If you could have your partner help with this I'd be much obliged! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201004...
