Everyone's reaction to oral surgery is different. There are directions for after care sent home with you on how to care for your mouth and what you can and can not eat. There will antibiotics(Prescriptions) and pain medication that you will need to take. make sure that you follow the directions. If you do not follow the directions, you can end up with dry socket or a infection. If you still have concerns, then speak to the dentist office before your appointment. My son had all 4 wisdom teeth taken out at once. He was only in discomfort for the weekend (3 to 4 days).

I had my wisdom teeth removed surgically when I was in 10th grade. During the procedure, they gave me nitrous oxide (laughing gas) which knocked me out so I wasn't aware of anything. But I will be honest, I had a lot of pain afterwards for a couple days (they always give you pain killers). Your face will also be really puffy for a few days, but it's not a big deal since you'll probably get to stay home from school anyway. But not everyone has a lot of pain. My husband had his out in high school too, and he said he didn't even need the pain killers. Everyone's different. But if you do have pain, know that it will only last a couple days. And in the meantime you get to eat all the ice cream you want :) You'll be fine!

It varies by how many wisdom teeth will be taken out, and how grown they are. Mine were still inside my gums, and I got all 4 taken out at once. Coming out from the anesthesia my mouth was numb, but faded away through the day. I was put on Vicodin and then switched to Percocet for a few weeks. Yet my sister only had minor pains for a week.
