Why not just brand every American with their SS Number right on their foreheads?
Make it real easy to see that they are here legally. Or even better install a microchip under the skin. Give cops a scanner and have them stop everyone.
But that dude on TV swears by his program and gives out his SS number! Instead lets just get tagged and be done. No Tags go back home.

I think Kenny J is being provocative and ironic.
America (and all other countries are the same about their own hot issues) does not want to admit there is a basic problem with the immigration debate: some industries completely rely on cheap illegal immigrant labor. There is no point patrolling the borders and hassling people on the street. Address the problem at the core : either those industries need this labor or they don't. If they do, then work out a guest worker visa program and massively punish (fines and closure of business) the employers who violate it. Or if those industries have to get along without this cheap labour, then, again, punish the violating employers - and watch certain goods increase in cost, or see some industries simply disappear.

Hey, whatever it takes! We're open to suggestions. Since the Feds aren't enforcing the laws of the land, someone has to. It's not a free-for-all. We are not California. Besides, we as citizens are held to the laws of the land, so should criminals be held to the law of the land. If Mexicans don't want to be deported, they can become citizens. They put themselves in this position. And don't use the old and tired excuse that without them everything in the US would cost more because employers would have to pay minimum wage. That's how it's supposed to be!! Employers who hire illegal aliens should be held to the law as well. If it's more expensive, sobeit. Do you agree with illegals being taken advantage of by employers paying them less than they would legally have to pay a citizen? Some of you are so out there. If you would just settle down and take a deep breath along with a moment to try to think clearly, some of the stuff that comes out of your mouths wouldn't. I'm kinda embarrassed for you.

With RFID technology, you wouldn't even /need/ to stop someone, you could just have readers on street lamps, doorways - anywhere people tend to walk buy that you can get a data and power hookup to. ICE agents could just walk around with SMGs equipped with readers that interrupt the firing pin when pointed at a citizen and randomly spray down crowds (Cyberpunk? 'Cookie-cutter?' No?).
Branding, though, is painful, and the forehead isn't a great choice. A tattoo on the arm, with a barcode would be better, less painful, easy to scan - and theoretically reversible for those Americans who must pose as another nationality in the course of service to their country...
Ok, seriously, though, no one's really suggesting that. While it'd make more sense for citizenship to be checked at points of contact to the legal system - bookings, questioning, entitlements, employment, paying taxes, etc... - the idea of allowing police to confirm whether a crime is being committed when they suspect one is hardly unreasonable, it just needs to be handled correctly.

Privacy issues and having a number is no guarantee of legality. Many illegals have phony numbers or are using actual numbers that belong to other people. You have a good day now

Because. Conservatives are selfish. They have no problem with immigration so long as everyone goes through the lengthy and expensive legal process. They have no problem with Gay Marriage but, refuse to share the word. It's insipid.

YOU DON'T MEAN US WHITE GUYS DO YOU!!! That would be unconstitutional -- oh wait. that isn't in the second amendment is it? Ok, maybe not unconstitutional, but really unfair to the oppressed white majority that runs the country.

The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution reads:
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

WHy not fine the people that hire them? That will work and it wont infringe on people that are here legally.
