1998 ford ranger 4.0l V6 A/C and heat control problem?

Heat blows from the floor intermittently at any temp setting. A/C blows hot under moderate and hard acceleration. A/C only works on max but compressor engages in both settings and defrost. I have no cold defrost only hot at any temp setting. Check engine light is on , codes are all related to EGR , replaced DPFE sensor 2yrs ago (melted) and both hoses were replaced and they appear OK.( code cleared at that time and didnt return till a few months ago ) EGR valve may be culprit but believe to be vacuum leak and blend door combo problem could all this just be vacuum leak? Vacuum is good at flow control valve on heater hoses (at idle hard to check under engine load)

Flow control valve closes when max ac is selected it opens in any other position except off ( again at idle) valve remains open at any temp setting also.

Could someone give me some ideas of the easiest way to remedy this problem? Currently I ziptie the flow control valve shut in summer and let it open in winter. I live in Florida with only two seasons HOT! and Warm. Thankyou for any suggestions

You in no way reported the codes the tilt code might nicely be led to by skill of the gasoline injector yet you probably did not say the EGR code ... additionally did you disconnect the battery on an analogous time as checking for matters (as you may desire to sparkling any discovered information)? in many situations on those autos, the EGR code is due greater to a DPFE sensor this is at times examining out of selection and is meant to offer one million.0v at key on engine off or interior of approximately .2 the two way... maximum will reason matters if over that and can set a p0401/p0402 often on those autos the tilt code is by way of the fact the the gasoline and oxygen from the ineffective hollow grow to be entering into the equipment and the o2sensor grow to be doing that's interest of picking up the greater o2 that grow to be unburned.

I would check the heater control valve sometimes this goes bad and can cause issues like you mentioned. The other issues I've seen are the blend door actuators going bad.
