proper English ?! can you help me on this phrase ...?

hey guys I'm not a native speaker, so i wanna ask , is it better to say " the only child" or " the lonely child" , about a child that has no brothers or sisters?

i hope that your answers are based on the standard or very well known spoken English ! thanks

    Use "an only child" or "the only child", depending on the situation.

    "Only child." Lonely is more about a depressive feeling of being alone, whereas "only", in this context, means that you have no brothers or sisters.

    hey...i wud use only child....lonely child means...a child who has no friends....
