Why won't my 49CC scooter start?

My 49CC "Tank Urban Sporty" won't start. I don't think it's the battery, I trickle charged that to full capacity, drained the gas in the winter and put new gas in in the spring. It sounds like it wants to turn over, but I just can't get it to. Anyone know why?

Thanks!

Update:

That sounds right. I had heard that from someone else, too. How do I get the battery out?

I would bet on your carburetor as the culprit... you may have 'drained it' but you still left residule fuel in it, and that has become 'varnish'. In essence your carburetor jets are clogged, and you are not getting air, or fuel, or both in sufficient quantity to get combustion... clean the carb. and the matter should be remedied... you can try using SeaFoam and I would encourage that, add 1 oz. per gallon in your fuel tank... now use the kick starter to turn the engine over, (you are getting the mixed SeaFoam/fuel into the carb.) You cannot overdo this, so don't hesitate to turn it over a bunch... now you LET IT SIT! Several hours, even overnight, letting the SeaFoam break up the bad guys causing the problem.

Once it has had a chance to clear up, try starting it... make sure the ignition is turned to 'on' and you have the brake depressed and the kill switch 'Off". It should fire off or at least 'puff' right away... that means you are 'fixed' and the bike should be fine. just running it will contiune the cleaning.

Remember, you DO NOT NEED your battery to run the bike, but the ignition must be 'on'.

    Good Luck!

Your battery has a dead cell and wont hold a charge.Just because the charger says its at full capacity doesnt mean its good. Take the battery out and have it load tested. Most auto part stores will do it for free, but it sounds like the cell is bad and it doesnt have enough cranking amps to turn the motor.
