I bought a spotted green puffer from wal mart a couple of years ago. They didnt tell me that this fish had to have snails or crustacians in his diet or his teeth would grow to the point that he could not eat. Apparently the hard shells of the snails keep the puffers teeth filed down. by the time we realized it, he could not eat. We got tiny snails from the store, but it was too late. Maybe you have a similar problem.

I have and breed dwarf puffers. I have only heard of one dp who would eat flakes, and that was a ver odd thing. Dps are carnivores and need meat, flakes will not do and freeze-dried stuff has to be reconsituted or they make the fish have constipation. A good tropical fish store will have a freezer where they will keep frozen worms and other meaty fish foods. Look for frozen bloodworms. Although not all dps will eat dead things. Mine won't so I have to feed them live food--blackworms, daphnia, scuds, white worms, some brine shrimp (but they aren't high in nutrients so it's more for the fun of the chase). They are also scaleless fish so you MUST keep their tank clean and do weekly partial water changes because these fish can't handle much ammonia/nitrite build up in the tank.
Also, if he's a brand new fish, it takes some fish a few days (up to a week sometimes) to stop being scared enough to try eating. Live food will entice them to eat more readily then dead food. Any dead food the fish doesn't eat within about 5-10 mins. needs to be sucked out of the tank to keep it from rotting and raising your water parameters.
Before you actually buy a fish, you really need to research it to make sure you can provide all the things the fish will need. Getting the fish home and then realizing you can't feed it or don't have the specialized things the fish needs isn't being responsible.

Dwarf puffers are carnivorous and need lots of hard food in their diet. Many refuse to eat flake food, and they shouldn't be on a flake diet anyway. Get some frozen or live shrimp (even grocery store shrimp cut into pieces), frozen or live daphnia or bloodworms, and most importantly, buy some ramshorn snails. Lots of LFS will give these away for free because they're considered pests that come with live plants. Puffers absolutely need snails in their diet. It's their natural diet in the wild, and they need the hard shells of the snails to help keep their teeth worn down.

A little bit of basic research would show that dwarf puffers dont eat flake food.
You need to get some bloodworms, shrimp, snails or bits of bits of raw fish. Basically fresh food only

I feed my dog once a day and she's about 3 1/2 months. However, it totally depends on the dog. I feed her the same amount of food as before when i did it twice a day, but for some reason, when she ate twice a day, she'd gain too much weight FAST, and she even want to eat it twice a day, so i combined the meals to once a day, and she seems much more happy and satisfied with that. however, most puppies her age wouldnt' do well with once a day feedings, just get to know your dog and which he/she seems more comfortable with (sapper didn't want to eat, seemed full all the time, constantly pooped, was lethargic, and just generally wasn't the happy-go-lucky dog she is now)

they eat cockles, raw fish, shrimp etc
Shrimp with head and shell is good
get some malaysian trumpet snails they breed like crazy and will wear down the puffers teeth

Healthy fish can survive for about a week or so without feeding so stop freaking out. Also, why don't you just look it up what they eat on Google or go ask your local pet store.
