Should I get a Powerlifting belt?

I'm a 24 year old rugby player. I do a lot of deadlifting and squatting in my training and I'm wondering if I should get a powerlifting belt for my heavy sets of squats and deadlifts. Right now I'm 187lbs, my deadlift max is 445 and my back squat is just under 325. My main concern is actually losing core and low back strength from using the belt. Is the belt worth a go? Or should I bear down and try to improve my core strength before getting the belt?

Update:

Yeah my lower back can get quite sore from heavy rack pulls & good mornings. I do also have a tendency to arch my back during vertical presses. I've been doing more core work and stretching to help my posture but I feel my core's limitation on my heavy squats and deadlifts.

Do you get a sore lower back? The belts just offer more supports and can help prevent injury. I don't think it is going to actually cause you to lose any muscle just because there is some extra support. It should actually help you to lift more weight, thus gaining more muscle.
