I'm 17 and i want to join the Marines. Any pointers?

as said, im 17 and im interested in joining the marines when i graduate high school, as a way to pay for college, and because i love america and i want to give back to the country that gave so much to me. I'm pretty over weight, 250 lbs, but i do believe most is muscle, im atheletic, i enjoy sports and working out, but i still have a good bit of fat. im trying to loose weight and get in shape (the crucible is a bit intimidating for fat people). Any pointers on what else i can do to prepare for the Marines?

The crucible isn't until week 11, you'll be in shape by then.

    Also, here's a weight chart.

Hey, I was a 250lbs fat body when I signed up at 17. When I weighed in at MEPS I was 214 (right on the line for someone thats 6'2), thats after I starved and worked out HARD for a month before I shipped. The crucible will be easy for you fat boy. Here's why... you've been carrying around that extra weight for quite a while. Because of that your legs are used to carrying that extra weight. During all of boot camp you will be on a diet and worked the hell out, that means you will lose plenty weight by the 8th week (the crucible should be on week 7-8). You will be carrying a pack that will put that weight back on and then a little bit. Humping wont be a problem for you in the crucible, the challenges will be though.

    Hang tough.

My uncle served as a sargeant in the Marines during WWII & made a lifetime career out of the military (various branches). His biggest secret was his mindset-- once a Marine, always a Marine.

Look at yourself in the mirror and say, "I AM A MARINE". Where the mind goes, the body will follow.

Thank you in advance for your service...

RUN RUN RUN, pushup pushup pushup, pullup, pullup, pullup. Its gunna suck, but itll be worth it when you get in there, because they;re gunna test you on that. Plus, youre gunna be stuck doing that for 4-however many years your contract says. Its much better to get used to it now than show up and pass out. Be careful of those recruiters though, and dont let any fine print get by you. My father was a marine, my brother-in-law is a marine, and my ex-bf was a marine.. I live in a marine town lol Its a great STABLE career choice, just be sure its right for you. Good luck!

1st stop working out just run alot and get ready for hills. Learn how to swim don't get scared. Um listen to ur drill instructers and they help u even if they seem like they hate u. Get PFC before u ship out keep ur headup stay motivated and never quite. Learn how to climb ropes and slay ur fuckn body everyday. Don't worry just put out and lose that way so u could ship. I just graduated Good luck
