Whats up with kids these days?

Don't feel old! I'm fifteen and I have no clue what is going on with people my age either. I wish Justin Bieber would go FAR away. Speaking of Justin Bieber a commercial came on with him on it. Is there anyway of escaping him?!

My theory as to why kids write "LiKe DiS" is because it's a trend and maybe they think it's "cool"

I literally do not text I don't even use my mobile so I don't really use the "c u l8ter" thing.

The extra letter makes the word longer like you are still saying it (if that makes sense)

I hope this explains part of what kids are like in this stain age. I seriously want to live under a rock so I don't have to hear of the madness of screaming JB fan girls.

EDIT: I agree with some of the answers above me with the "generalizing" not every child writes like that or acts like that. Only some.

EDIT: I would also like to say that half the time I do not understand what anyone is saying when typing "lyke dis"

I know exactly how you feel. I am not exactly what you would call old i was born in 86 and i didn't have any idea who that Justin Beiber was either. I am sick of seeing illiterate kids especially on here. They say stupid incoherent words and sentences that you can't answer until you figure out what their question was in the first place. Another thing that gets me they call everyone either bro or sis, when they aren't even related what is the deal with that. I will admit if i am in a rush i will type ur instead of you're or u instead of you, but nothing like what you see these days. Trust me i very much get where your coming from. I'm also curious as to why all teenagers go through the "emo" faze. Why do they have to dress in all black and have their makeup so thick and black they look like Panda's? and what the hell does emo mean anyway?.

Agree with you there. Although, it seems that most teenagers are actually starting to use correct spelling & grammar now. If you go onto a facebook page where someone ''tlks lykkk diiisss'' everyone else just seems to gang up on them and pay the idiot out.

But there are still people who think it's cool to act like they are uneducated, and there will always be people like that.

I was born in 95, and most of my facebook friends type with at least some sort of English skill.

Honestly, I have wondered the exact same thing.

Another thing that gets to me is when PeOpLe TyPe LiKe ThIs. Drives me insane!!!!! Takes me an extra minute to type 4 words like that, yet kids on my Facebook can type out a whole paragraph like that!

And I'm not old, I was born in 1987.

That is from a girl who was born in 1992, so she's only 5 years younger than I am. It took me 3 tries to actually read that. Whyyyyyyyyyyyy....She goes to school, she knows how to spell, yet she does that....

I just hope that when my daughter is a teenager, she actually uses her knowledge of spelling lol

Normally I would be all rude and ask why you're generalizing, but on the subject of bad grammar on the Internet - I see that all the time too, and sadly, you're not exaggerating.

I really don't know. I can't imagine what could possibly be going through people's minds while they type that stuff. I highly doubt they're really that illiterate. Maybe they're just doing it because a lot of other people are.

I see what you mean. But, not everyone is like that. I was born in 1995, I do have the ability to make real sentances. Kids just get lazier and as children get phones and texting a lot earlier now proper grammer is killed along the way. For example, the eight year old I babysit. She has as nice a phone as I do, and has unlimited texting. She sends me texts like heeeyyyyy Torriiiieeeyyy wat upp?! It's pathetic. But, as for you, don't say EVERYONE can't make a sentance born after 1990. That would be a lie.

I was born in early 1995 and it irritates me. S'only the chavvy types that type like that; they think it looks cool and different.

I put my Facebook status as "Hazel ___ is wondering why some people her age can't type, do they have sticky keys? :/"; one of the comments was "It's A Habbit. Whyy Do Youu Use Such Biig Words In Your Statuses??x" or something like that :') that was a fun conversation.

I was born after 1988, I do not use "c u l8r" I have a hard time figuring that out myself!! I would write "i love u" But that is about as much abb. I do sometime i write would=wud, could=cud. But only on text or if i am trying to hurry. I would rather read that then the people on my myspace who write, iim dat gyrl yew cnt bii... That drives me crazy. I hate that. Alot of younger people are too influenced by what other people do or say, and what other people see as cool and uncool.

I don't think you should single certain ages out. I don't use any type of shorthand writing, including text language and i'm eighteen. But I noticed you wrote ''WTF'' I think it's stupid with kids writing like that, but then again, whats wrong with a bit of imagination? You aren't exactly old. Some people your age write like that, it depends how mature they are.
