What is the range of the function f(x,y) = ln(x+y-1)?

I thought it was [0,infinity) but my TA thinks it's (-infinity,infinity).

Your TA is correct. The natural log of a number between 0 and 1 is negative, and if the argument of the log be made arbitrarily close to 0 (but positive), the log is arbitrarily large in magnitude and negative.
