.AVI file problem with Sony Vegas?

I've been searching the interweb for hours now, and not one thing has worked. I have Windows 7, Sony Vegas Pro 9, and Camtasia Studio 7.

My problem is, that when my video is finished with Camtasia Studio 7, it saves at a .avi file.

When I go onto Sony Vegas Pro 9, it let's me put the video in the Media Bin, but it won't let me drag the video into the timeline.

I've heard things about codecs and I've installed so many that I'm now clueless.

Please help me with a FULL tutorial on what I should do!

Thanks, Patrick.

"My problem is, that when my video is finished with Camtasia Studio 7, it saves as an .avi file."

    NOT true.

According to the link below, it can save as many different file formats:

"The production process, also called rendering, creates an output file based on the sequence of video clips, audio clips, images, and effects on the Timeline.

Preset production options contain settings that have been optimized for your popular distribution methods: Blog, CD, DVD-Ready, HD, iPhone, iPod, Screencast.com, Web, or YouTube."

So, your REAL problem is to choose a file format, within Camtasia, that Sony Vegas will accept. Look up the file formats supported in Sony Vegas' Help Files.

As i know, Sony Vegas in simple terms helps some particular avi documents, in line with risk won't be able to assist Camtasia made avi documents, and sony vegas helps mp4(avc video codec, aac audio codec) documents properly, so i think of you're able to be able to desire to transform your avi documents to mp4(avc video codec, aac audio codec) documents, then you definately can placed the switched over mp4 documents into Sony Vegas software. i'm employing RZ Video Converter which could do this properly, it additionally can convert any movies or audios between diverse formats, alongside with convert avi to Sony vegas mp4. Have a attempt via your self. you are able to yahoo or google seek and get carry of it, desire it may help you.
