On June 5th, 2012, the planet Venus will show up as a tiny black dot merrily crossing the face of the Sun. Of course, Venus will actually just be in her usual orbit 67,000,000 miles from the Sun, but she will be "aligned" with the Earth and the Sun, making your statement... well, nearly true.

The hoopla surrounding Dec 21 2012 is due to a bunch of people selling books and DVDs and survival gear and bombshelter plans and apocalyse-sniffing pot-bellied pigs... okay, so I made that one up. Anyway, it is all hype from people trying to sell you anything. I DARE you to rent-a-pig and sniff out any pro-apocalypse website that ISN'T selling books, DVDs, etc. Can't be done. This should tell you something.

If you skip all the End of the World lies, that just leaves you with the Solstice. In other words, Dec 21, 2012 will be the first day we here in Michigan shovel our sidewalks in the Winter instead of in the Fall, since... oh.... April.

Well, ..., I probably be going to a Christmas party. There will not be an alignment, however, if you get up early on the morning of the 12th at 7:30AM and have a clear view of both the Eastern and western horizons, you will be able to see: In the east, the waning crescent moon, Mercury, Venus, and Saturn and in the west Jupiter. It's not an alignment, but you'll be able to see all of these planets at once. Venus will be transit during the day time as it often does. This is nothing out of the ordinary.

You are right, Venus will travel across the sun, and it will cause a black spot. And then there will be a total Lunar eclipse on an island off of South America. However there is no actual evidence to suggest that an apocalypse will occur. So there is nothing to worry, the Mayans just thought that every 20,000 years the world was destroyed and recreated by their gods. Other than these two cosmological events, nothing else will happen.

Be one of the smart people and don't fall for all the bullshyt about the world ending or any other nonsense about 2012.

There's no evidence of it being true either. There's probably going to be a few suicides from people who really believe and a ton of people getting drunk. Followed the next day by severe depression when they realize they've been wrong for the last decade.

I am going to get up, take a shower, and do stuff. I am also going to enjoy the first day of Winter. The world is not going to end.
