What's the best song to listen to on a good pair of headphones?

Pink Floyd, Echoes? Tool, 10,000 Days? Portishead, Threads? Something else?

Many rock music bands from the mid-70's made great efforts and pride in their studio stereo sound quality, given music recording back then was analog. The efforts made focused on getting the best resonant sound quality at highest possible volume---without crossing lines of sound distortion; a trend that today is trashed and lost.

These artists and their albums listed offer amazing sound reproduction, while listening to their works on headphones. Played at low volumes, you'll hear their works in a far different and better way--hearing complex studio music mixing:

ELO- A New World's Record ( keep in mind--the band did use symphony orchestra instruments--no keyboard sampling of such string and brass instrument sounds and NO digital music reproduction ).

Boston- Boston ( their debut album--NO synthesizers or digital equipment were used--and the band is most proud of that fact. )

Styx- Pieces of Eight ( the track "Aku-Aku", "Oueen Of Spades" and the title track, "Pieces Of Eight" are awesome !)

Pink Floyd--Dark Side Of The Moon ( the first ever rock album that took 8 months to create, using cutting edge sound recording equipment of the early 1970s )

Super Tramp--Breakfuss in America ( first rock album, where studio recording equipment used also was used during live arena concerts--that reproduced the same studio sound live in concert )

You're not going to find today's "rock" bands carry the same tireless pride in their studio sound recording the way these bands back in the day did.

Those are good (Portishead in particular).

I recommend Brian Eno - "An Ending (Ascent)" and Spiritualized - "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space."
