Should I get a transpack bag?

Ok, so I'm sick of using my dorky school bag to carry my skates to the rink :) and I'm thinking about getting a transpack. I was looking at zuca at first but I decided that it's too expensive, and any rolling suitcase type bag would be inconvenient for me (to get to the rink I have to catch a train, catch a bus, and then walk the rest of the way. All together it takes about an hour and a half).

So now I'm looking at a transpack bag (if you aren't familiar with it, it's this: https://www.discountskatewear.com/p-68-transpack-s...

It seems reasonably priced. If you have used it, is this a good bag? Does it fit lots of stuff in it?

Thanks!

I LOVE this bag. It's bigger than a Zuca and allows for bigger skates.

    Pros:

-Side pockets for skates that let skates air out.

-Side pockets allow you to put a lock through the two zippers, to protect skates.

    -TONS of room.

-Easy to stash under a bench.

    Cons:

-Kind of awkward to lug around. It's supposed to be like a backpack, but just sling one strap over your shoulder and hug the rest of the bag to your body.

-No organization- you just throw everything in the middle. There is a small zipper pouch that you can put small things in, though.

I've fit this into my Transpack:

    Hard guards

    Socks and gloves

    Jacket

    Two books

Lunch cooler, about a foot high and five inches wide.

    Cracker box

    Second pair of skates

The only thing that it doesn't have that Zuca has is more little pouches and a seat. I would definitely recommend this bag over the Zuca.

That's a long commute. You're committed - I used to take two buses and walk a 1/2 mile to get to our seasonal rink. It was an hour by bus/walk or 15 minutes by car, lol. (The bus routes were really not direct at all and made many stops.)

You should ask some of the skaters at your rink to let you check out their Transpack bags. Some skaters find that, once it's packed, the Transpack is heavy to carry over long distances, not because of the bag, but because of the contents. The strap starts to hurt during long commutes on the subway with it pulling all the weight onto one shoulder.

Some adult skaters have said that their skates fit in the Transpack fine, but they leave little room for the other things they need with them, so the skaters end up bringing a second bag to carry music, tissues, etc.

    Another option:

TJ Maxx and Marshalls sell combination backpack-rolling bags. (So do a lot of other stores, but these have the best prices.) You can use the straps (or top handle) to carry the bag or you can set it down to use the handle and wheels. These bags are heavier than a normal backpack because of the frame, but you can put it down to get a rest. Because they don't flop over when you set them down, you don't have to worry about them sitting on a wet floor or sidewalk. It also lets you get your things out easily at the rink, or lay the bag on its back to unpack your skates. They usually have the mesh compartments to organize things; I'm not sure, but I thought Transpacks only have one or two compartments. (Don't remember - no one uses them here but the LTS kids)

This is definatley a good bag!I have the light pink and white doogtooth patterned one ;) Because it is a backp[ack oit looks as if it would be heavy to carry but it really isn't!It is excellent for someone like you who has to travel via train, bus then walk as it doesn't take up much room at all when transporting. The two pockets at the side have mesh vents which allow the skates to dry in the bag so you don't have to go to the hassle of taking them out to dry.I would say the only problem with them is that they aren't the most easy bags to keep organised if you love to shove loads of things in them lol-I have a habit of throwing everything in the middle pocket when I cba lol.But the good think is that in the middle pocket there is sooo much room!!! I love that it has a little square pocket with a zip which is perfect for keeping cds in!

    As a conclusion:

    -Great for transport-light,compact and durable

    -Comes in pretty patterns :)

    -Well worth the cost

    -Tons of space

-A well thought out bag which is perfect for a skater (my mum is always commenting on how well thought out the design is when seeing skaters struggling with their zuca bags lol)

-Great for keeping your skates safe, clean and dry

I hope this helps and good luck-I thoughly reccomend it!

Source(s): I hyave one myself and love it :)
