Was anyone else a bit let down by the Mayweather v Mosley fight?

I stayed up all night to watch this highly anticipated boxing match, me and my friends were really pumped up when it finally started. It was good of Sky Sports not to put in on pay per view too. The first few rounds were fantastic, and Mosley nearly knocked Mayweather on the canvas. But suddenly in the 5th or 6th, Mosley looked very tired, looked very shaky and Mayweather just toyed with him. He could have KO'd him but I think he just made mosley go the distance.

I was bored by the end of it, and couldn't wait for the bell to ring. I know mayweather's style is efficiency rather than to go all out, and Mosley is a little over the hill, but it had the potential to be a classic fight. In the end it became a formality for Mayweather, and it was one of the easiest wins of his career. Let's hope Manny Pacquaio agrees to do the drug tests, and then Mayweather will be able to fight a true contender.

Update:

update: I was in no way criticising mayweather, he's one of the best of all time. I'm not a boxing fanatic, I just think this particular match was lacking as a spectacle.

If you've seen any of Floyd Mayweather's previous fights, then you would realize that this fight was actually very entertaining going by his standards- the only recent fight that Mayweather had that was more entertaining than this one was his fight with Ricky Hatton, other than that, you'd have to go back a few years to find an entertaining Mayweather fight (and even the Hatton fight was a few years ago now).

The fight was very 1-sided after the second round but it wasn't boring and it's not Floyd's fault that he dominated Mosley so badly. In the majority of Mayweather's fights, he stays on the outside and potshots all night long while moving around the ring and staying out of danger but for this fight, he actually took it to Mosley and surprisingly outfought him in certain portions of the fight. I'm not saying this was the fight of the year or anything and Floyd did defend and counter just like he's done in all of his fights but he was far more aggressive in this fight and he gave the fans a good show and in my eyes at least, he made the fight worth the cost of the pay per view.

This was one of the best wins of Floyd's career and the only reason why this wasn't a classic was because Mayweather neutralized everything Mosley did- a great fight is not made by just 1 fighter and the majority of the all-time classic fights featured great back and forth action but when 1 fighter is just so dominant, you can't have that kind of action and you also can't fault the fighter who dominated because the main priority of a fight is to win and not have slugfests where you risk getting knocked out. Part of boxing is hitting but another and possibly more important part is not getting hit and Mayweather is a master at both which is why his connect percentages and the punches landed on him are some of the highest (and lowest for punches landed) in the history of the sport since compubox has been tracking fights.

After Mosley caught Mayweather in the second round and almost dropped him, Mayweather had him figured out by the next round and Mosley didn't have any other plan except to try and land that one big shot which never happened again- his one opportunity to win the fight was in that second round and he couldn't capitalize on it and after that moment, Mayweather knew what to expect and just dominated Mosley to win a lopsided but entertaining (at least from how I saw the fight) unanimous decision. Once Mayweather has a fighter figured out and once he gets into his groove, it is damn near impossible to get him out of it and turn the fight around in your favor and Mosley never came close to doing that because Floyd's defense and counter punching abilities were simply too much for Shane to overcome.

Just like everyone else, I also want to see Mayweather fight Manny Pacquiao next but I'll always be skeptical of whether or not it will ever happen due to all of the drug testing issues- I have said for a long time that I favor Floyd to win if and when that fight comes off but if there's anyone out there who can beat Mayweather, it's definitely Pacquiao. The person who can beat Mayweather will either have to have a great strategy and implement it to perfection (like Jose Luis Castillo almost managed to do by pressuring Floyd to the ropes and going to his body) or they will have to be able to have several strategies that they can implement when one is not working because Mayweather is a master at figuring his opponent out. Pacquiao has a shot to beat him due to how he attacks his opponents from all different kind of angles plus the fact that he's a southpaw but Floyd has fought southpaws before and looked good against them and I just think that Mayweather has more than good enough defense and counter punching ability to beat Pacquiao- it would be a great fight though regardless of who wins.

It was a one sided fight apart from the second. Props to Mayweather for recovering, Mosley so close in that round. I still found it to be a highly entertaining boxing match. Still kept on hoping that Mosley could land big again. The age has been made too much of, If Mosley was 33 it probably wouldn't have been any different. Mosley was tired cos he was being ouboxed by Floyd Mayweather and looking for the big single shots too much, rather than letting his hands go. Mayweather finally proven at welter beyond all doubt. Pacquiao isn't because he won't take the drugs tests. I think that you guys dissing this fight as being boring - should stick to watching your 20 sec clips of Tyson the destroyer in his heyday and your xbox. Seriously - you are NOT boxing fans.

Great fight between two great fighters Money won just like I said he would but I did not see Money beating Mosley this easy 11-1 in rounds that is Roy Jones Jr. beat down style.

    hate mayweather

    but cant argue his skill

despite the fact that he cant finish fights, he can box and box at that. perhaps had this been a brawl or bare knuckle im sure mosley would of easily won

but this is boxing their are not a trillion ways to lose only really 3 ways, disqualification descion, and tko or ko. mayweather just out boxes people and sense he lacks the ko power as do say perhaps 90% of boxers but they usually finish it he peppers you with jabs

The fight wasn't a let down for me. Despite whoever I was rooting for, the fight went exactly how I predicted. The second round was very interesting and as long as Mosley was still standing, I was always left wondering if he would land another hard shot or surprisingly get dropped.

Yeah it was a boring fight and I wanted Mosley to beat Mayweather down.

Like the man says, he ain't gonna get no respect for anyhting he does. I rest my case, some of you are just plain rediculous, you don't wanna watch the sport then stop watching cause for many in attendance and the millions watching around the world, this was boxing.

It was boring. Mosley run out of gas because of his age. This fight should happened years ago. but we all know who ducked mosley for years

All you "real boxing fans" who think it's an exciting fight when one of the boxers stops throwing real punches due to exhaustion after the third round are either morons or trolls.

    That was a great fight.

Money's skills, speed, stamina, and heart will make any fighter look bad.

Why did you bring up Manny JUICE HEAD?

Do you like to see fake JUICE HEAD'S fight?
