they sound a bit similar but it's not bad.

Depends on what your definition of "in the same family" is.
Do you mean sib set? Then yes, way too close.
Do you mean cousins/other extended family? It depends on how close you are to that family member (ie how often will you see them). If you're not that close and you'll only see each other once in a great while, if at all, then I dont see a problem with it. They can just have nicknames to use around the family (like they could go by their middle names or something). Now, if you see them all the time, or at least fairly consistently (ie for certain holidays), then yes, they are too close.
Do you mean father son? Then no, it'd be kind of like having a junior.
Now if they havent been named yet, why not switch one of the first and middle names (so it'd be Nolan Alexander and Allen Noah or Alexander Nolan and Noah Allen). Then you dont have to worry because their first names would be completely different.
But if it's a twin set, I'd probably drop one of the names entirely and find another name to fill in because, even flipped, they're too close and will end up being confusing.
I hope this answered your question...

Is the boy a cousin or brother? If it is a cousin, I don't think the name should matter. The cousins will only be together a limited amount of time anyways. If it is a brother it might be too similar; however, some twins names are very similar. I like the name Nolan Alexander, it is a beautiful name that flows together well. Good Luck!

No, I think they are fine. My cousin has 4 boys their names are Noah, Nathaniel, Nicholas and Nolan. Cute names!!!

No. Noah and Nolan are different enough from eachother to use. I like using the same initials, I think helps tie the names together.

Yes. Not only that but Noah followed by a name that starts with A is awkward to pronounce. Something like Noah Landon would be cool.

They are a lil close, but no i don't think they are too close for 2 boys in the same family, and both are adorable names BTW, :D
