Question about the thumbs down option vs the thumbs up?

I was just curious as to why some people will give others the thumbs down sign when the answer is actually really good. I noticed this for awhile now, do you intelligent people out there think it is just the trolls or maybe it's just that the people that give the thumbs down are too ignorant to even understand the question or the answer. And yes, I know having even asked this question that the dumb people out there will "thumbs down" me on this. Thank God for the intelligent people out there. I think we should come up with a "code word" that let's the intelligent people know where to go to actually ask or answer a legitimate question, and quite possibly get rid of the thumbs down when people don't even deserve it most of the time. (Like now)
