I think the Rangers SP. I just watched the entire series in Seattle... guys I had never heard of were shutting down Ichiro. Who are these Harrison and Lewis guys? Kelly Johnson is another surprise.

Tampa's great start - they're a young team that went to the World series 2 years ago. For the most part they're the same players with a few more years experience.

Boston's struggles - they play the Yankees and Rays a lot in their schedule. If Beckett and Papelbon ain't pitching well, they ain't winning.

Jimenez - he's had the talent and 100mph fastball for years, he's finally learning how to pitch.

Wigginton - he's had hot streaks before. The year Tampa went to the World Series he was leading the majors in homers and RBI at the end of April... finished the season as Mr. Utility.

Jimenez: If you told me preseason that Ubaldo Jimenez would be the best pitcher in baseball, even for only a month of the season I would have either said "February doesn't count as a month of the season" or "Yeah. I know. My favorite pitcher is going to be the best pitcher in baseball this season, too." I mean, the guy can pitch and all, but it's not like I was thinking ace or no hitter or anything.

AL West: Wow. I really did not think Seattle or Oakland would be able to win ten games before June. And the Angels suddenly can't pitch? And the Rangers suddenly can't hit? How is there not a ten game gap between second and third place? Baffling.

Boston: It's kinda crazy. I guess Beckett's April lulls plus Ortiz suddenly not being good at baseball anymore could result in this, but they looked like they had enough depth in the lineup and rotation to win consistently without any two people performing.

Kelly Johnson: Didn't see it coming. He is a streaky power hitter, so a month like this can happen, but I definitely didn't see it coming.

Tampa: After last season, you'd think they'd come out with more urgency early on. They haven't had a killer schedule to start the season, either, but I wouldn't have put money on it.

Padres: Kevin Correia is surprising me. Other than that, you'd have to think this is one of the more capable staffs going in. It's not a total shocker.

Diamondbacks: Parra and the pitcher are the only guys in that lineup that don't hit with power, and they've got a good park for hitting.

Giants: Cain and Lincecum are about as good as a top two can get. Zito really should be better than he's been as a Giant thus far. Sanchez has no-hit type stuff... sometimes... So, it's not really a shocker.

Liriano: This is the second year back from Tommy John surgery. That's normally when a pitcher gets back to their peak performance.

Ty Wigginton: Considering that last year was basically the only year he's ever put up bad numbers, his putting up good numbers shouldn't catch anyone off guard.

Rangers: Feldman won 17 games last year, and was in the Cy Young discussion until Spetember. Rich Harden has actually disappointed. CJ Wilson was a dominant late inning reliever with a top of the rotation repertoire. Matt Harrison was a big time prospect whom won 9 games in half a season as a rookie but missed a lot of last year with an injury (thoracic outlet syndrome. Pitchers often throw harder after the surgery to correct this problem than they did before. Matt Harrison is one of those pitchers). And Colby Lewis, with the numbers he put up in Japan the past two years, would have gotten a $10mil contract this past off season if he had been born in Japan.

Josh Beckett's ERA: Isn't it the exact same as it was the same time last year?

  • Rays are doing really good(better than I thought they would be)

Boston shocked me I cant believe how much they are struggling

I can not believe the SP of the Padres. They weren't so hot to begin the season

Rangers SP i guess is good(I don't follow Rangers at all so I really do not know)

Kelly Johnson my favorite player on the D backs is doing the best on the team in avg, hits, and tied in homers with 9

I will be honest I don't know who Jimenez is

    Lirianos is doing ok

He has a really good ERA

That has to be fun every team has a chance unlike the NL Central Cards have a 4 game lead(last time I checked was yesterday so I may be wrong)

Giants Shmiants They will have a huge losing streak and hopefully dodgers will have the worst record in baseball

D backs have a lot of power hitters so I knew they would have a lot but no clue having the most

I don't know who Wigginton is

rather frankly i'm taken aback the Yankees are in first place, yet they could be... so i think of the biggest marvel is the Texas Rangers - their pitching has been SO undesirable for subsequently long - it incredibly is wonderful they're triumphing like they're. The Brewers too - previous Gallardo, they have wasehd up veterans like Suppan and Bush and Looper and yet they're doin it. They do play in a vulnerable branch, yet extra ability to 'em ! however the award is going to Texas.
