If both retired today, who should go down as better all-time Mosley or Mayweather?

Take their whole careers, skill, opponents, accomplishments - if you want to include PPV numbers, be my guest.

Assuming neither ever steps into the ring again, who should go down as the better fighter all-time.

Hi Peter. There's really no contest. Mosley is THE ONLY ONE OF THE 2 that actually beat a Legendary fighter AT THAT FIGHTERS PEAK....Mosley beat a PEAK OSCAR in 2000, back when Oscar { despite his highly controversial loss to Felix Trinidad } was considered pound for pound the era's absolute best.

Floyd HAS YET to beat an opponent who was at that particular "Omnipotent" level at the time he faced them.

So RIGHT NOW, it would "Historically" have to be Mosley.

Mayweather is much higher on the list.

Mosley has had a lot of big fights, but his only real top victory is the 2 against De La Hoya. That 2nd one is dubious not only because of the steroids he did, but also the fact that he didn't deserve the decision.

Mayweather has been dominating people from 130 lb to 147 lb and even grabbed a title at 154lb. The way he schooled Mosley on Saturday shows that while Shane is a really tough man, he isn't in Money's league talent wise.

If you want to throw PPV into it, Mayweahter is a $$$ fighter, and Mosley is a good co-star.

Hard to say Mosley never beat a top guy ever. He always lost , then he used PED's during the time he fought Oscar. Thus his Career is not going to be looked at the same.*

Mayweather has never lost so you would think he would be the best, but his comp level was never really high. In the end i would have to give it to Mayweather because of his record and skill level.

“Gospel” potential “good information,” and quite, good information is welcome no longer only at Christmastime yet every time. although, the Gospel is not only any good information. it really is a particular good information from a diverse source about a particular situation. it really is, in fact, a message that God has appointed to be presented to all mankind Webster’s 9th New Collegiate Dictionary defines “Gospel” as “the message on the topic of Christ, the dominion of God, and salvation. the toddler Jesus would improve as a lot as be the Christ, the promised Messiah. He would exhibit God’s purpose for salvation, provide up his ideal human existence in behalf of mankind, be resurrected, and then grow to be the selected King of God’s Kingdom. good information certainly! that's why the message about him is termed the Gospel. Jesus set out on a excursion of all the cities and villages, training of their synagogues and preaching the coolest information of the dominion.” (Matthew 9:35) His preaching grow to be no longer only to make people experience extra positive. Mark files Jesus as holding: “The appointed time has been fulfilled, and the dominion of God has drawn close to. Be repentant, you people, and performance faith in the coolest information.” (Mark a million:15) convinced, those who replied and obeyed the coolest information stumbled on that it replaced their lives. After Jesus’ lack of existence, his followers persevered to evangelise the Gospel. no longer in user-friendly words did they talk about the dominion yet they extra the satisfied information that Jesus were resurrected to God’s proper hand in the heavens and had provided the cost of his ideal human existence in behalf of mankind. because the single chosen by utilizing God to rule over all the earth as King of God’s Kingdom, he will be God’s Agent in destroying God’s enemies and in restoring the earth to a paradise.—Acts 2:32-36; 2 Thessalonians a million:6-10; Hebrews 9:24-28; Revelation 22:a million-5. at present, the coolest information encompasses a much better element. in accordance to all the data of the fulfillment of prophecy, Jesus has now been enthroned, and we are living in the finest days of this device of issues. (2 Timothy 3:a million-5; Revelation 12:7-12) The time at the same time as the dominion will act antagonistic to God’s enemies is rapidly drawing close. What extra positive information ought to there be?

Floyd Mayweather has the better legacy over Shane Mosley and if there was any doubt about that, it was silenced when Mayweather dominated Mosley this past weekend in one of his best and most complete performances. If you were to have asked, "who has the better resume", then I could see someone POSSIBLY saying Mosley but even regarding their entire resume (not just welterweight), Mayweather might have a better resume.

As far as their careers are concerned, the numbers don't lie- Floyd has beaten 15 world champions throughout his career compared to 8 for Shane and Mayweather's record against world champs is 16-0 (he fought Jose Luis Castillo twice) compared to Mosley's record against world champs which is 10-6 (he fought Oscar De La Hoya, Vernon Forrest, Ronald Wright, and Fernando Vargas twice); as you can see, they both have the same amount of fights against world champs but the difference is that Mayweather has managed to win every single time including against Mosley himself whereas Mosley has lost more than a third of the time.

As far as the skill is concerned, I don't think there's any doubt that Mayweather is and has always been the much more skilled opponent and that's not to say that Mosley isn't very skilled because he is, it's just that his skill set pales in comparison to Mayweather's. Mosley is very good offensively but his defense was never worth bragging about and neither was his jab, he had good power for a welterweight, good hand speed, decent foot speed, and he went to the head and body as well as you could ask any fighter to. Mayweather on the other hand outdoes Mosley in every single one of those categories with the exception of power- Floyd is one of the greatest defensive fighters of this generation if not of all time, his offense shines through the moment he is in control of a bout, his jab has always been better than average, his hand and foot speed is on par with other all-time greats and he has always thrown effective combinations to the head and body in every single one of his fights (his connect percentage for power punches is often greater than 50 percent), which is something you can't say about Mosley. Mosley also has never shown the uncanny ability to figure out his opponent in the middle of a fight and adjust to whatever is going on around him like Floyd can.

As far as opponents go- this is maybe the only category that you could conceivably give to Mosley and due to what Floyd just did to Shane this past weekend, even this category might go to Floyd as well. At 135, the elite opponents that Mosley beat were Phillip Holiday, John John Molina, and Jesse James Leija and while that is a respectable resume it pales in comparison to what Mayweather accomplished at 135 and 130 with his victories over elite opponents such as; Genaro Hernandez, Diego Corrales, Carlos Hernandez, Jesus Chavez and Jose Luis Castillo (twice). However at 147 and 154 Mosley by far has the better resume- he fought the likes of Oscar De La Hoya (twice), Vernon Forrest (twice), Ronald Wright (twice), Fernando Vargas (twice), Miguel Cotto, Ricardo Mayorga, and Antonio Margarito- he may not have won all those fights but he performed respectably in each of them. Mayweather on the other hand fought Sharmba Mitchell, Zab Judah, Carlos Baldomir, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, and Juan Manuel Marquez and beat all of them, however his win over Oscar was a split decision and Oscar was a bit passed his prime at that time whereas when Mosley beat him, they were both at their peak, and the rest of the fighters were either too small or didn't have a prayer to win (with the exception of Judah, who was coming off a loss when he fought Floyd). It's really up for debate as to who has the better resume but I'll just leave it at Floyd's is better from 135 down while Mosley's is better from 147 up and if you made me choose who had the better overall, I would pick Floyd solely due to the fact that he fought Mosley and beat him in lopsided fashion.

In terms of accomplishments, I don't think there's really any question that Mayweather is the much more accomplished fighter- he's won 6 world titles in 5 separate weight divisions throughout his career and he would have won a 7th world title if he payed the sanctioning fee for his fight against Mosley. Shane on the other hand is not too shabby himself- he's won 5 world titles in 3 separate weight divisions and would have undoubtedly been a 4 division champ if he didn't skip over the 140 pound weight class. And as previously stated, the numbers don't lie- Mayweather is 16-0 against 15 world champions throughout 5 different weight divisions whereas Mosley is 10-6 against 12 world champions throughout 3 different weight divisions.

Lastly, the pay per view numbers also favor Floyd- he has sold over 6 million pay per views in his 7 fights that have been on pay per view and he owns the record for most pay per view buys for his fight against Oscar De La Hoya. Mosley on the other hand has also done well but his total buys for his main event fights on pay per view totals less than 4 million.

Both are all-time great fighters and future first-ballot hall of famers but if neither fought again, then Mayweather would be regarded as the better all-time fighter and justifiably so due to everything that I just explained- he simply outdoes Mosley in almost every comparable category, which is why he is undoubtedly the better fighter.
