Is it true that an SD memory card will only tore your photos for 1 year?

Absolutely not. I have several SD memory cards and I have pictures in them from almost 3 years ago and they are still good. Memory cards are like flash-drives, floppy disks, or hard-drives. Things save in them can last almost forever.

No. SD memory is a permanent memory so will store things untill they are deleted or the SD card becomes corrupt.

You can store photos on it indefinitely, as long as there's still space. Once a photo is on the card, it's there until you either delete it, or the card is damaged. Whoever told you that probably didn't understand that you can delete the photos from the card, and it took them a year to fill the card up with photos!

No, that is not true.
While it is ALWAYS a good idea to back up your important photos, no matter where you have them stored, there is not a limit on how long your SD card will hold your photos.
That is not to say they are permenantly safe on an SD card, just that there is no law saying they disappear after a year.
But again, always backup, backup, backup.

No that is false.
However, there is a finite amount of time before the card loses information when not charged. It is usually over 100 years for data retention.
