Toyota Corolla blowing smoke when accelerating after stopping?

My 98 Corolla, after I come to a complete stop and begin to accelerate is blowing ample smoke out of the exhaust. What could the problem be? How long do I have to fix it?

    either a stuck valve or needs new rings . can go for a cheap fix . but would be better to go for a better one . using slick 50 . its a bit pricy but worth it . will give you enough time to sell the car or get the money to have it tore down and new rings and seats put in it . if it is white smoke your not in to bad of shape . if there is water coming out of the exaust then your going to have water in the oil . that is a bad thing .

    Rubber valve guide seals are worn;Doesn't cost much,replace without pulling head; the auto store has an air adapter that fits in the spark plug hole,this will hold up the respective valve,using valve spring compressor tool also available ;compress the valve spring and remove the keepers then spring, and replace the seals and reverse the process;

    FIRST I WOULD LET THE ENG IDLE AND LOOK UNDER THE HOOD TO SEE WHERE IT IS COMING FROM SEEING HOW IT STOPS AFTER WARMING UP I WOULD THINK THIS IS A CRACK OR GASKET PROBLEM IF YOU THINK ITS A CRACK AFTER SEEING WHERE THE WHITE VAPOR IS COMING FROM BUY SOME SILVER SEAL AND PUT IT IN THE RAD DO THIS WHEN THE ENG IS COLD USE 2 SMALL CONTAINERS NOT ONE IF THIS STOPS IT IT WILL ONLY WORK FOR A SHORT TIME LIKE MAYBE 2 MONTHS IF IT GETS WORSE IN WARMER WEATHER THEN I WOULD GET IT CHECKED AT GOOD REPAIR SHOP THEY CAN CHECK THE WHITE SMOKE AND TELL YOU IF ITS RAD COOLANT AND THAT WILL TELL YOU A LOT ABOUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS GOOD LUCK JFB

    black smoke means the engine is running rich and needs to be looked at. blue smoke means you are burning oil and there's not much you can do unless you want to put a new engine in your car.just check oil level regularly. lots of white smoke means blown head gasket and needs to be fixed immediately.

    what color of smoke ? black means it,s burning too rich, white means anti-freeze is going into the combustion chamber and blue means oil burning. maybe it,s valve seals or the return holes are clogged under the valve pan.

    Old, cracked, damaged valve stem oil seals.

    Beats me how long it will last.

    Oil leaking somewhere.
