So I have some growths on my cervix and?

the doctor thinks they may be Napothian Cysts but did a PAP just to make sure. My question is though does cervical cancer cause small hard spots on your cervix too? I hate the darn waiting game for the results and just wondered if anyone would know this.

Cervical abnormalities usually move very slowly, so if you've had a normal pap anytime in the last few years, its very unlikely you have cerivcal cancer. Cervical cancer starts as lesions on your cervix, but no, they aren't usually hard to begin with. You can't even feel them. Still, I'm glad your doctor is doing the pap just to make sure. But let me tell you about the pap: it's not a test for cervical cancer. Yes, it will find cancer, but what they are really looking for is PREcancer. Cervical precancer is fairly simply treatment by removing a small piece of your cervix. So even if your pap isn't normal, that doesn't mean you have cancer or will get cancer. So just relax. You are fine.

Source(s): That answer above me is pissing me off. Cervical cancer is not 100% perventable. And HPV is spread though any sex, whether or not it's protected. I really want to slap some sense into that girl.

take your list of questions to the gyn & have them answered BEFORE you leave the office. cervical cancer is the ONLY type of cancer that is 100% preventable -it is spread by HPV contracted during unprotected sex.
