Glorious Qur'an or Bible?

As Salaam to you all,

Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala) abrogated the Torah of the Jews because they went away from His path, thinking they knew better. He gave His book to the Christians, who also thought that they knew better than He did and so He abrogated this book also. He gave His final book to the Arabs and most translators have made a hash of translating it into other languages, i.e. making Isa (‘alayhi wa salam) into Jesus through similarities but not truth.

If the Bible is not the truth as witnessed by Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala) through His abrogation of it, then why do we still refer to it, even if it is only partly true?

Is not the Glorious Qur’an your straight path in Islam?

Update:

Edit: Most translators have used the Bible to confirm the identity of the Prophet Isa (as) as Jesus but although the stories are similar they are very different. To who do we pay homage, the Creator of the Glorious Qur'an and He Knows who what and when He made things happen. He did not use the word Jesus but rather Isa (as), so who is the Prophet He sent.

I also see that the thumbs down have been at work to all sensible or reasonable answers.

I spent 35 years researching my faith as a Christian and although I agree totally with the Old Testament the New is a fabrication of lies. Totally different to the old Aramaic scriptures where Jesus was never the son of God.

You are who you are and in whom you believe but remember His final book is the one and only correct book and in the Arabic there is no Jesus.

Update 2:

One final point, what would we as Muslim's do if someone was to change the name of the Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa salam) into some western name as their final Prophet of Islam? Wouldn't we object, no differently to the Christians resisting the name of Isa (‘alayhi wa salam) instead of Jesus, even though the first is truth and the second is fabricated away from the faith in their Creator?

Update 3:

In Surah 2, Ayat 106 it states "None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?" Abrogate also means to annul and although Allah (SWT) will not abrogate His words and revelaations He will abrogate what man has put with His words by giving a new book to different people. The Glorious Qur'an is His final book.

    Wa 'alaykom as-salaam brother Mahmoud,

Personally I prefer to stay with the Glorious Qur'an because I believe it is the 100% Truth from Allah subhana wa ta'ala [God...glorious and exalted is He] and thus the Glorious Qur'an is enough for me [as per Al-Qur'an too]. Alhamdulillah.

Plus this always comes to mind for me too, personally [alhamdulillah]:

"..Swaying between this (and that), (belonging) neither to these nor to those... " [Al-Qur'an 4:143]

    Insha'Allah Muslim[ah] for life. Alhamdulillah.

Was a christian previously so many of my extended family are christians so I don't have a problem with christians or having extended family as christians insha'Allah but for me personally Islam is my religion. Thus with regards to others, and their religion or way...no problem, no worries, insha'Allah: "Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion. " [Al-Qur'an 109:6]

...and christians [and torah-abiding jews] are people of the book insha'Allah, are they not?!...i.e. they are not altogether devoid [even if their original revelation is lost or changed] of divine guidance ...as per Al-Qur'an [Al-Qur'an: 2:62, 5:69, 22:17, 2:285]. They have been given a portion, have they not?! [Al-Quran 4:44, 4:51]

    Anyhow,

"...This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you as religion al-Islam..." [Al-Qur'an 5:3]

He it is Who hath sent His messenger with the guidance and the religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religion. And Allah sufficeth as a Witness. [Al-Qur'an 48:28]

The Glorious Qur'an is a God-protected and perfected revelation:

"Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an, (Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved!" [Al-Qur'an 85:21-22]

"We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption)." [Al-Qur'an 15:9]

Not sure, but perhaps the Bible in a way attests to (some of) its own corruption of what was earlier revealed, interestingly...and not trying to offend any here insha'Allah, but there is this to consider:

"'How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely? [NIV Bible Jeremiah 8:8]

    Now!

The People of the Book [apportioned a portion of scripture earlier] are asked by Allah subhana wa ta'ala to [now] believe in what has been revealed in this Glorious final revelation...i.e. The Qur'an.

    [Al-Qur'an 4:47]

"This Qur'an is not such as can be produced by other than Allah; on the contrary it is a confirmation of (revelations) that went before it, and a fuller explanation of the Book - wherein there is no doubt - from the Lord of the worlds." [Al-Qur'an 10:37]

....i.e. they were given a portion earlier [e.g. 4:44, 4:51]. Though certainly now we have the whole in the Glorious Qur'an.

    However:

"None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?" [Al-Qur'an 2:106]

    So to reiterate:

"...This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you as religion al-Islam..." [Al-Qur'an 5:3]

This [Al-Qur'an] is for all of us! May all be guided to accept the Truth insha'Allah.

The word Jesus [pbuh]... I don't have a problem with it to be honest with you. 'Isa [ عيسى ] (‘alayhi salaam) is the Arabic. The English word...it must be Allah subhana wa ta'ala's will, must it not?! May the peace and blessings of Allah subhana wa ta'ala be upon all the Prophets and Messengers of Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

    Thanks.

    [Al-Qur'an 1-7]

    [Al-Qur'an 3:19]

    [Al-Qur'an 17:44]

    [Al-Quran 25:63]

Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi, SubhanAllahi al atheem.

    Salaams [all].

  • Yes the quran is the straight path in Islam, but you make false statements about the bible. I would recommend you do some actual research instead of just listening to what Islam says and see the proof that the Bible has not been corrupted.. The Christians did not think they knew better and did not change God's law, however the Jews did which is why God sent Jesus to correct the laws the Jews were making that were not God's law.

Edit: If you want to be fair then ratia deserves best answer.

What a silly question to ask in the Ramadan section where you know the majority are Muslims and of course are going to agree with you. If a Christian asked this question saying the bible was the correct path most of you would assume they were a troll and trying to piss off the Muslims.

Muslims do not know quran is from the Devil. Bible is the Word of God.

    All Things Made New

21 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John,[a] saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me,[b] “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

6 And He said to me, “It is done![c] I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things,[d] and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving,[e] abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

First to correct, Jews and Christians are not ethnicities, all holly books were sent to Arabs living in Arabia according to the most up to date historical and archaeological research. Second, the main point of your question is right, but we have a problem here: Muslims were initially Jews and Christians they were trained on falsifying Allah's books, they used this talent again after converting to Islam, they used the Torah and the Bible to understand Quran which is a big sin, they created the Hadith which is made up of lies, and around their lies they built the religious institution the clergy they claimed to be the only ones who understand what Allah wants and they made themselves the defenders of faith, they brainwash people, they want Muslims to believe in superstitious and myths just like Christians and Jews, they want Muslims to believe their prophet was pedophile, was a murderer just because their books of lies say so. THEY ARE STUPID LIARS SO ARE THEIR FOLLOWERS LIKE IT OR NOT , THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ISLAM

Source(s): Just to add, they wear funny cloths just like Christian and Jewish clerics @the donkey start thumbing down

    The Goriest quran.

@ allah's servant: want to talk about racism really? Then lets look at the quran and the hadiths:

Quran-(55:72): “Hur (beautiful, fair females) guarded in pavilions;”

Quran-(55:70-77): “ In each there shall be virgins chaste and fair….dark eyed virgins sheltered in their tents whom neither man or Jinn have touched before…”

It is also written that allah will BLACKEN the faces of the unbelievers.(Quran, Sura 39:60)

Thus the punishment of allah is blackening of faces while the rewards are fair virgins.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle said, "You should listen to and obey, your ruler even if he was an Ethiopian (black) slave whose head looks like a raisin."

Sahih Bukhari 9:89:256, See Also Sahih Bukhari 1:11:662, Sahih Bukhari 1:11:664

I heard the Apostle say: ‘Whoever wants to see Satan should look at Nabtal!' He was a black man with long flowing hair, inflamed eyes, and dark ruddy cheeks…. Allah sent down concerning him: ‘To those who annoy the Prophet there is a painful doom." [9:61] " Gabriel came to Muhammad and said, ‘If a black man comes to you his heart is more gross than a donkey's *****.

It also says that black people are followers of Satan & they should be burned back to hell and this has not left the minds of the fair muslims.

In addition there are also different versions of the Quran. The Warsh version is mostly followed by Africans while the Hafs version is followed by people of the Middle East.

    The following verses differ between the Warsh version (popular in Africa) and the Hafs versions (popular in Middle East) of the Quran: 7:57, 9:37, 2:259, 3:81, 6:96, 1:4, 2:140, 2:125, 3:146, 2:132, 91:15, 2:132, 3:133, 5:45, 2:139, 3:81, 2:259, 2:214, 2:9, 2:184 & 28:48.

The Torah is mostly in tact but is not followed by the jews they follow tanak (jewish hadith) instead. The bible was never ever Allah's book it has always been (hadith) and yes the QUran is the right path but how many of you follow the QUran? Most just follow muslim (hadith) like Christians and the jews and ignore the Quran.

    salaams...

    Glorious Qur'an AND Holy Bible!!!

Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) abrogated the Holy Torah and the Holy Bible?

cite your source please. (Qur'anic Text preferred)

so all the truth that is found in these Holy Scriptures is null and void? the Wisdom of Solomon that Allah gave to him is now seen as foolishness and etc.?

well yes... the Holy Qur'an is the straight path in Islam... and i love it very much and continue to study it daily... Alhamdulillah!

does a sincere Jew or Christian think that they know better than God?

perhaps you don't know a Jew or Christian with Ikhlas...

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and soul, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your steps." - Proverbs 3:5-6

is the Holy Qur'an abrogated because some Muslims don't follow it?

The Holy Books remain... and will always remain. Though you may step away from them... they still remain a Guidance and a Light for many... insha'Allah.

and all Praise is for our LORD.

Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi. Gloria in excelsis Deo.

I think knowledge of their books is a very important thing too. I mean, even if the Haqq is only the quran, you can not dimiss the fact that they read and preach these books. So reading them to expand your knowledge of how much of the original is kept and how much was discarded by comparing to the quran is a great thing.

You also need the biblical knowledge in order to be on the same line of thought when you speak to those who believe in those books.

As for selecting merits of individuals' characterisitics from the bible. e.g. in the case of Jesus.. I think getting what goes with and leaving what goes against is a good thing too, for even if the quran tells you more than enough about what happened, you shouldn't mind expanding on cultural knowledge/even if it wasn't true, seeing how the bible is diverse in content.

Once again, the quran is the best source of islamic knowledge about all things, yet comprehension of the quran is very very difficult. And see how even though it is an ultimate book. muslims still diffir amongst themselves about its context---> meaning (haha, so i don't get accused for believing that the quran is imperfect etc)

    peace

    Wa'alaykum assalam warahmatUllah

Allah (SWT) said in Surat Al-Baqara:

105Neither those who disbelieve among the people of the Scripture nor the idolaters love that there should be sent down unto you any good thing from your Lord. But Allah chooseth for His mercy whom He will, and Allah is of Infinite Bounty.

106Nothing of our revelation (even a single verse) do we abrogate or cause be forgotten, but we bring (in place) one better or the like thereof. Knowest thou not that Allah is Able to do all things?

107Knowest thou not that it is Allah unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and ye have not, beside Allah, any guardian or helper?

108Or would ye question your messenger as Moses was questioned aforetime? He who chooseth disbelief instead of faith, verily he hath gone astray from a plain road.

Two different types of corruption have affected God's Words prior to the Holy Quran:

    1) some were forgotten (deleted/lost/changed)

    2) some is irrelevant (because Quran replaced it with either one like it or better)

The result is that the Bible is now a mixture of truth and falsehood. Alhamdulilah God has sent the complete and concise Quran, so we have no *need* to refer to the Bible in matters of life and religious rulings, but there are still some relevant verses which were neither forgotten, nor abrogated. These verses can be useful in matters of da'wah and maybe in understanding more about God's revelations before Islam. Granted it's not possible to tell exactly what is true from what isn't, but if something is in sync with Quran then it most probably is, if not, then it isn't.

The obvious answer to your question that doesn't need a second of thought is "Quran". But there is no reason to dismiss the Bible in its entirety; not as a Divine book and not in the same way we regard the Quran, but as a source of knowledge that should be approached with care. Not as a Book to derive our religious path from.

I personally plan on reading the Bible one day insha'Allah, but not before I've studied the Quran enough to be confident and not confuse or mistake any Christian concepts for Islam.

p.s. What is your objection to translating "Isa" to "Jesus"? (and "Maryam" to "Mary" as well I presume?)
