Do rabbits stop growing?

I went to the pet store and saw cute little holland lops. The mother was only 6 or 7 months and she was HUGE. I really only want a holland lop because i heard they are the friendliest but i don't want it to be that big so fast. I have 2 questions:

1. is there a certain age where they stop growing?

2. do you know of any other rabbit as friendly as the lop eared ones but don't grow so big? (i know the dwarf ones stay smaller but i've also heard the netherland dwarf is very mean)

Holland lops are the smallest of the Lop breeds. They typically weigh less than 4 pounds when they reach senior which is 6 months. Mini Lops are not a small breed they reach 6 pounds at maturity. If the mother was large they were not Hollands. Most rabbits at pet stores are not pur breeds.

If you want a Holland Lop then find a breeder and buy one from them. this way you will be assured you are getting the rabbit you want. look for one who's parents were small. In this way a breeder is better as they can tell you what the parents weighed and the rabbit should come with a 3 generation pedigree.

yes rabbits do stop growing. Most have reached full maturity at 1 year of age.

    1. Rabbits are 90% of their adult size by 12 weeks of age. Pet stores rarely have proper breed identification.

    2. Holland lops and American Fuzzy lops are the smallest of the lops and max out at 4 lbs.

Mini lops come next at 6.5 lbs.

The other breeds, French and English are extremely large and have no maximum weight for show.

I own a lion head rabbit and a neitherland dwarf. both are very small (both aren't even 5 pounds) compaired to other breeds. My lion head is very friendly and I love his personality. (He always licks my hand when I pet him)

And yes my neitherland dwarf is a bit testy, but mostly because she is a female and female rabbits are particularly the testier ones.

It really depends on who the mommy and daddy where to that rabbit. Holland lops are typically very big. they do have Holland mini lops though and those would be a bit smaller. 5-6 pounds. but if your looking for any rabbit with lop ears then you can find mixed breeds all over that are smaller and have lop ears. But you would have to guess on the weight because they are mixed.

ps- if you can, try not to buy from a pet store because you don't know where that pet came from or what condition the pet came in when it came to the store.

all animals have a point where they stop growing. So really your problem is if you want a big friendly bunny or a smaller, less friendly one. But you could go to a breeder and ask for a hand raised dwarf bunny. As long as it is hand raised it should be really nice.

No, that is why there is such a huge problem with giant rabbits everywhere.
