laptop screen to dim.?

i can see it but for some reason my laptop screen is darker the normal except the mouse. for some reason everything except the mouse is darker. any help? and dont say just turn up brightness because it is all the way up and the screen just wont go as bright as it should be.

    hit the BIOS with a hammer.

    i like this ^ answer. but hitting the bios is probably a bad idea. could just be a bad connection to the monitor
