I thinking of getting this bike for my son. I know that intruders are outstanding bikes but I have never heard of of the Volusia before any info you may have or know about this bike would be helpful

While I've not owned one personally, a friend of mine did, and he had zero complaints with it. As 'Roadawg' says, the Volusia line became the Boulevard line of bikes. The VL800 was a solid, shaft driven v-twin. Assuming the bike is in good shape overall, and in the $2000 - $3000 ballpark, I don't think you can go too far wrong. If well cared for, they were essentially bulletproof.

If you want to look like you are riding a Harley but can't afford one, okay, but if you want something different and you are not broke, buy a Moto Guzzi California. You will find that it has much better handling and really good brakes (Guzzi's sporting heritage coming thru) and is just as economical and good looking. It also has shaft drive makes a wonderful sound and is vice free.
