Are you expecting good things from Big Boi's debut album this year?

I am a huge fan of Outkast, but personally, i think big boi's debut album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty will not live up to it's hype. From having most of Outkast's albums, it is obvious that big boi is not good as andre 3000 when it comes to lyrics and beat selection. If you listen to his CD from the speakerboxx/love below album, most of the beat selection is crappy and his lyrics seem shallow. IDK, it's just that every album from a good rapper that has come out has not impressed me, because everyone is following trends. I think if Big Boi sticks to production from Organized Noize and has guest appearances from Andre 3000 and the other dungeon family, the album should be good.

What do you think? Are you going to buy the album?

Yessir....big time Big Boi fan over here....he did a drop for my DJ a few weeks ago...real good dude...

Also i'm not sure how you could come up with the conclusion that his beat selection was crappy... from speakerboxx....i thought the beats were pretty standard....Church...Tomb of the boom...Ghettomuzik......The Way you Move....These arn't crap beats....

And saying lyrically he's not as good as Andre 3000 isn't a insult when Andre is considered a top 20 mc by many people....Personally i would probably have Big Boi in my top 50....because lyrically he is the truth.

he obviously doesn't need Dre...but it would be nice....he has a number 1 hit all by himself already....so i would expect him to not have much issue with making a dope album....

I have good expectations. I feel big boi has gotten progressively better over the years, Speakerboxx wasn't bad but it took long for me to get it. Saying that Andre is better than big boi in lyrics is true but still they both have different styles. I agree with you on saying he should have organized noize and Andre 3000 as guest appearances but he will though. I think it would be a good album but i still want Outkast as a GROUP to drop a new album.

I think it will be fine. Speakerboxxx was a 3.5/5 album imo. Not bad at all. And Royal Flush is one of my favorite songs with both OutKast members so if that isn't just the best track on the album by far, the album's got potential. Either way, I'm such an OutKast stan, I'll probably like it no matter how much it sucks.

Show No Fu**ing Mercy probably my favorite debut from any band of any genre. BA: Kill 'Em All - Phantom Lord KIMB - Chosen Ones Show No Mercy - Metal Storm/Face The Slayer Fistful - Metal Thrashing Mad I love all 4, Slayer gets the edge because the album is so diverse. You can hear elements of Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, Motorhead, plus it was so original sounding on top of that. 1983, could be the ONE thrash album not directly influenced by Kill 'Em All...

You're not basing your opinion "From having most of Outkast's albums." You're basing it solely on Speakerboxx/The Love Below just like everyone else does when they compare them to each other. There was barely any margin between them through their first four albums, which are their best albums. Big Boi had no problem at all hanging with Andre3000 when they were at their best, so one album shouldn't have turned Andre3000 into Batman and Big Boi into Robin. They're both worse as solo artists, but can still put out dope material on their own. There's no reason to assume Big Boi's album will be disappointing, especially considering all 5 or 6 tracks that are supposed to be on the album and have come out already have been good.

Am I the only one who thought Speakerboxxx was easily twice as good as The Love Below? I'm not expecting the album to blow me away because Big Boi and Dre aren't as good solo as they are when they're together. But I'm still definitely expecting an above average album.

All the leaked tracks are great

The guest apperences so far should include: Too Short, George Clinton, Andre 300(Obviously), Raekwon, Gucci mane(His verse is tolerable), Back Bone, and T.I.

    I'm definitly buying it:D
