What can be a good coconut substitute?
Please don't say almonds, carrots, peanuts, cashews or pistachios! That's all I can find online and I'm allergic to all of these. I want to make energy bars and substitute the grated coconut with something else.
Also, in general, it might be nice to know a substitute for coconut and all of the other ingredients in cooked food and cookies as well, since they are all popular and 3/4 of all the most interesting recipes I find contain these. :(

I found this answer, but I copied it here and included the URL for convenience.
"As coconut is usually part of the dry mix, you could replace it with an equal amount of the flour used in the recipe; unprocessed bran; oats; ground nuts or even chopped dried fruit."

Man, this is a tough one. Maybe you can make something other than the polar bears. (shaking my head) But I think you might be looking at a trip to the store, regardless of what you change them into. I'm thinking you could change them into most any animal... but I don't know what you have on hand! I wish I could help more... BUT THANK YOU FOR POSTING the recipe link~! I printed it out for my family!
